I got home and found my mother preparing supper. She dropped everything that was in her hands as soon as she saw me. I swear her eyes misted when she embraced me.
I had to fight my tears from coming out but I couldn't as the comfort I felt inside her arms just set me free to let everything out and breakdown. I let it all out crying my lungs out inside her arms wetting her dress. I believe she was also crying as I heard the sobbing, it made me hard to stop. After what could be 2 minutes crying without breaking the hug we heard someone clearing a throat. That broke our moment. Well, we broke the hug and I motioned around to find my dad standing in the corridor. The light flashed out guilty that was written in his face. I didn't know how to react until he opens his arms wide to direct me to come to embrace him. A shock covered all over my face, believe me when I say my steps towards him took longer as I was shivering. I threw my body into his arms while sobbing. He ran his hands on my back giving me assurance that it is all well and my mother joined him in the hug it was heartbreaking memory to capture. They offered food as much as the Aroma leads my mouth to produce moist but I couldn't accept the food especially after what I just encountered a few minutes ago, it killed all my appetite, instead, I went to take a nap. I called William and assure him that everything is going well as they seemed to be concerned about me. I told him that they welcomed me back home and again I promised him that I will have a talk with them first thing in the morning. After ending the phone call I received a knock, it was my mother.
Mother: I am so glad by the mercy of God that kept you alive and leads you back home
Monica: I wasn't lost but indeed, I don't know what I would've been today if not his mercy
Mother: Where were you because he heard that they gave you a vacation note?
Monica: A friend helped me, he offered me a place to stay, I shouldn't be here if not being blinded by love. But it doesn't matter anyway, he is going to pay damages
Mother: That does that supposed mean? Is Brandon paying damages?
Monica: No his name is William, he is the one who cared for me in my dark days and he offered me a place to stay
Mother: So Brandon is not the father of your child, damn I should've known. Your father has to go back and apologies for the mess he created
Monica: What mess? what did he do?
Mother: He went to his place and attacks him, he threatened to kill him if he doesn't find you
Monica: Ooh wow that explains in all, that's the reason why he had to run all over Turfloop to find me
Mother: Ooh so he is the one that found you
Monica: Yes he promised to take care of me that's the reason why I came back. He promised to be the good father to my child and provide for our baby but he was just buying my face trying to save himself from my father. He never loves me mother, he just lied to me while he was running around with different chicks. You should've seen him in how he denied me in front of that little girl, I never felt so humiliated the whole of my life
Mother: I am so sorry my child, I am here for you, Me and your father we are here for you believe me
Monica: I am so glad that he came around
Mother: It took him a while to accept the whole thing but I am glad that at the end of the day he saw good in it
Monica: I am glad to hear that and it feels good to be home
Mother: So who is paying the damages again?
Monica: William
Mother: Monica you don't know the father of your child
Monica: ( My face just got covered by disappointment especially when I realize about the seriousness she had in her face, I muted)
Mother: It is normal to find confusion in it, You know at some times we make mistakes. I am a woman I understand so don't feel shy to talk with me about it, maybe I can give you guidance over it to discover who Is the father of my grandchild
Monica: I know mother, it's Brandon
Mother: Are you sure?
Monica: I am certainly sure about it
Mother: Then it doesn't make sense, why is William paying damages
Monica: He insisted on fathering my child, we are involved in a relationship
Mother: Listen here, it's wrong to have him paying the damages, no matter how much he loves you but it's wrong. He can be with you and he can take care of your baby but it doesn't mean he has to pay damages because he did none. The payment of those damages are meant for Brandon he should be the one taking the responsibility and we won't force him to pay for the damages
Monica: Ooh okay I will talk to him
Mother: Do not let this whole thing stress you up, it's not good for your health
Monica: It's a mess mother, he told his parents that he impregnated me
Mother: Why did he put himself in such a mess?
Monica: He was too excited about becoming a father
Mother: Is he normal?
Monica: Mother!!
Mother: Well, or you lied to him about him being a father
Monica: Mother!!
Mother: I am trying to make sense here
Monica: Well he had his own reasons
