Sa-Alti sent the letter first.
They then discussed their plans for the journey excessively and Alti invited Vileytna's family for dinner with the purpose of encouraging her to accompany them. Her reasoning being that it was important for her to be more involved in the kingdom's transactions as the only sibling of the Queen.
That seemed to be convincing enough.
By the end of the fortnight, it was agreed that Mahlon would come with his mother while Qasahn would stay behind.
Meanwhile, Alti was spending her time secretly screening interested women for a suitable nurse who would take care of her grandchild when things fell into place.
The answering letter came back with only five words written on it.
“I will be waiting then.”
Sa-Alti could practically see the sardonic smile on the face of the Emperor as he wrote this. He was obviously calling her bluff.
Well, he was in for a surprise.
In a weeks time, all three of them were boarded in a carriage headed for Geleu including the baby.
Qasahn was on his way to Noyn without the knowledge of Alti.
And the designated nurse was waiting in the palace for the return of Mahlon without his mother.
It was arranged in such a way that the journey would begin immediately at the descent of darkness so that by the early hours of the following morning, they would have been back without raising any suspicions.
