Peter's POV-
"No. Please. Why? Please. Stop. No." Everything sounded like it was under water. My voice wasn't my own anymore. Everything hurt. I sat in the metal chair of doom. I heard laughing in the distance. Bad laughing. Evil laughing. "Please no. No. Not again. Please." I felt tears streaming down my face. Sobs erupted my throat.
My body began to shake. Am I having a seizure? Will I die?
"-er! Peter! Wake up!"
3rd Person POV-
Peter shot up and out of bed. He jumped on the wall and climbed onto the ceiling. He looked down at the people in his room. The one shaking him was Mr. Stark. Standing slightly behind him was Steve with his shield and Bucky, both ready to throw a punch. Standing near the doorway was Nat and Pepper, both rubbing the sleep from their eyes.
As soon as they saw Peter on the ceiling, their concern grew greatly. Yes, they knew he was Spider-Man, but it's still weird to see the teenager you're in the process of adopting on the ceiling. Pepper was the first to react.
"Peter, honey. It's us. You're safe. Take your time, but you can come down now." Peter took in his surrounding carefully. He studied everyone's faces and even pinched himself a few times. After a few painfully tense minutes, he finally climbed down the wall and sat back down on his bed again. He was sitting criss-cross applesauce with his head down. Tony leaned in and hugged him. Peter tensed at first, but relaxed and hugged him back. Peter began to cry on his shoulder. He hated how weak he felt, but it was kind of nice to get it out. He hasn't cried since he was rescued a week ago.
Everyone else ended up leaving while Tony just sat with Peter, and they cried together. Tony sat with his back against the headboard and his legs out straight. When Peter calmed down, he sat the same way, but with his head on Tony's shoulder.
"It was going to be a surprise, but you seem like you could use some good news." Peter lifted up his head to face Tony.
"What are you talking about?" Peter was growing more tired with every passing second. He was flat out exhausted and his brain started to become blurred.
"Me and Pep are adopting you. We already started the process. We have our final meeting tomorrow afternoon. Then we are having a 'Welcome Home/Happy Adoption' party tomorrow night. We are going to invite Ned and MJ, all the avengers, and some others. Not too big, but pretty big. Plus I made you earbuds that muffle loud sounds, so you can hear everyone but it won't scare you. Or hurt your head." Peter sat in shock. What are you supposed to say to that? Not only did he just find out he was being adopted, but he also found out he may be able to enjoy a party for the first time since the spider bite.
"I-I... ummmm... I have no clue what to say Mr. Stark. Thank you? Ummmm yay?" Tony chuckled quietly.
"You don't have to say anything. But you have to answer my question." Peter nodded when Tony got very serious. "Are you happy we are adopting you?" Peter's eyes shot open.
"Am I happy? Yes! I thought for a long time I was never going to have a family again. Then you picked me off the street because I 'pulled on your heart strings'. Whatever that means, and finally I was happy, and now I get to be your son. Now I get a family. And I'm pretty sure this family likes me! I mean this is the greatest day of my life! Maybe it isn't above getting saved from Hydra, but it's a close second." Tony let out a sigh of relief and they both relaxed again.
Peter ended up falling back asleep rather fast. Tony snuck out of his room and back into bed with Pepper. He was ecstatic Peter was happy to be adopted. He really loved Peter as his son. It would break his heart to know Peter didn't share some of those feelings.
That night, Tony Stark fell asleep with a big, shit-eating grin on his face.
