My Oath to You [Under Reconstruction]

Chapter Seventeen

We all filled into the monitoring room. Kirishima waved me to the front and we stood next to All Might as he opened windows to different cameras on the screen. I saw Midoriya and Uraraka standing at the entrance. They talked excitedly but their voices were muted. I smiled to myself noticing that Midoriya seems calmer. I'll have to thank Uraraka later. In another window I could see Iida and Bakugo next to the prop weapon. Bakugo looked as riled up as ever. It makes me nervous. I know Midoriya and Bakugo have history. Whenever I ask Midoriya about it, all I ever get out of him is that they were childhood friends and Bakugo liked to "tease" Midoriya. I'm sure it was more than teasing. With Bakugo's unnatural anger and seriousness towards Izuku, I can only assume Bakugo has bullied him but Izu-chan is too nice to say something bad about him.

All Might spoke through the mic on his ear piece, "All right! Let's begin the indoor combat training! Your time starts now!" Pressure is on and I see Midoriya and Uraraka nodding. I think they have a plan. All Might speaks to us but not lifting his eyes off the monitor, "Pay attention kids. Think about what you would do." Kirishima nudged me, "This is so intense. What do you think is going to happen?" My dread was holding a knot in my stomach. I looked at him in all earnestness, "I'm not sure, but this is an important battle. For both Midoriya and Bakugo. I just don't want anyone to get hurt." Kirishima looked surprised, "What's so important about this battle?" I turned my attention back to the monitors. Midoriya and Uraraka are on the move, and Bakugo left Iida all alone. I looked down at my fidgeting hands, "Midoriya has a sense of respect and admiration for Ka-chan's ability and talent, but Ka-chan has some kind of grudge against Izu-chan. I don't know all the details but I know no one will be pulling punches." Kirishima patted my shoulder. I looked up and met his smile, "Don't worry Nozomi. Everything will be fine." I felt a little comforted and nodded.

I just raised my head in time to see Midoriya and Uraraka moving carefully in the hallways. On another window, Bakugo was running head tilt towards them. My chest tightened. Bakugo jumped around the corner facing them head on. We're not able to hear anything but the camera caught the explosion. Midoriya dove and pushed Uraraka out of the way just as the smoke enveloped the camera. I felt everyone's anticipation and listened to their comments. Kirishima shouted, "A sneak attack Bakugo!? What kind of man does that?" All Might replied, "It's a good strategy. He's playing his part as a villain would." The blonde hair kid pointed, "Look! There he goes!" On the monitor Bakugo ran at Midoriya and Uraraka. I could see he was saying something but I don't know what. Midoriya rushed him as Bakugo swung, grabbing his right hook and using Bakugo's momentum against him to flip him. Bakugo landed hard on his back and I cringed. That was a good move Izu-chan. Part of me held pride for Midoriya but I know it only pissed Bakugo off. Bakugo got up slowly as Midoriya spoke. Bakugo started looking angrier with each word. I wish I could listen to what they were saying! I looked to All Might who was raptured by the fight, obviously watching closely. I wonder if he is worried too.

Bakugo stood, holding his hands ready to fight but he was also speaking. Izuku held his hands up but he was shaking. Was it because of what Bakugo was saying? Kirishima finally spoke up, "Hey. Who is Bakugo talking to? I'm not hearing anything. Can we get any sound with this video?" All Might pointed to his ear, showing a glowing earbud, "He's got a radio in his ear so he can talk to his partner. I gave it to him before the match started with a map of the building." He then held up a roll of tape, "Along with this here capture tape. If you wrap this around your opponent that means you've successfully captured them and they're out for the rest of the game." The girl with pink hair and horns spoke up, "So there's a fifteen minute time limit and the heroes have no idea where the weapon is, right?" All Might confirmed, "Correct!" The girl looked alarmed, "Then the heroes are clearly at a disadvantage here. A big one!" All Might turned his attention back to the screen, "Real pros are always at a disadvantage. It's up to the heroes to outwit the villains. That's just life. Even when the odds aren't in our favor, we fight!"
