I woke up with my head throbbing. What the hell happened? I sat up and tried to take in my surroundings. I looked around through squinted eyes. The infirmary? Next to me working was Recovery Girl. I croaked, "What happened?" Recovery perked up and looked at me, "Oh, well hello there darling! How are you feeling?" I winced as my head throbbed, "I have a rocking headache. Am I at the infirmary?" Recovery Girl nodded, "Yes. You sure took the beating it seems. After the combat training with Midoriya, you told All Might and Bakugo that you weren't feeling well. Bakugo said that after All Might left, you felt feverish and he took you to the shade to cool you off until the robots arrived." Then my head flooded with memories. I blushed profusely. I did that with Bakugo. Recovery Girl put a hand to my forehead, "It still seems you have quite the fever. You're even turning red!" I gently brought her hand down. If she only knew half of it, but I guess that's the lie he came up with. Hard to explain a situation like that. I was so overwhelmed my body eventually gave out.

Recovery Girl continued away, working with whatever she was tinkering with before, "Class is over so you can feel free to return to your housing or stop by your class if you wish." I nodded, "Thank you Ma'am for taking care of me." She waved as she left the room, "Don't worry! Don't forget to eat something and stay hydrated, your body will be pretty exhausted until you get some rest tonight." She pulled the curtain behind her so I took it as a go ahead to leave. I got out of the bed and made it before leaving. I remembered, "Izuku!" I ran out from behind the curtain, "Recovery Girl, wait!" She shushed me, "Shhh! You'll wake him! He needs his rest!" Midoriya was in the bed she stood next to, still unconscious. His arm was in a cast and the other had an IV in it. I felt a tinge of guilt because Bakugo was the one who did this to him. I asked, "How long have we been out?" Recovery Girl waved nonchalantly, "A couple hours. I think your last afternoon class is in session." I walked over next to the bed, "Would it be okay if I stayed with him until he wakes up?" Recovery looked up at me and then looked back to Midoriya and smiled, "Of course. I'm glad he has a friend like you in times like this."

Little did she know, her words cut me like knives. I didn't get there fast enough to stop Bakugo. I could have saved Izuku. I felt tears sting the edge of my vision but I stayed quiet. I moved to sit down in the chair next to the IV while Recovery Girl worked. I watched Midoriya as he slept, the stabbing pain of guilt being relentless. I put my head in my hands and rested on the edge of the bed. How could I be so stupid! I should have done something sooner when I felt something bad was about to happen. I must have been more tired than I thought because when I rested my eyes and opened them again, I could see it was late afternoon by the lighting in the room. I felt a rustle next to me and I sat up, "Izu-chan?" Midoriya was being provided a sling for his cast by Recovery Girl. Recovery Girl cheered, "Ah, look who's awake." Midoriya smiled softly, "Hey Nozo-chan." I felt worry overcome me, "Are you okay? How long have you been awake? Are you in any pain? Is there anything I can do to help?" Recover Girl held up her hands as she finished cinching Midoriya's sling, "Now, now. He's fine. Please calm down." I realized I was standing and sat back down. Izuku smiled, "I'm glad you came by to check on me." I sweated a little, "Actually, I was a patient too not to long ago." His face flooded with worry as well, "What!? When? Are you okay? What happened?" Recovery Girl laughed, "Oh boy. Chips off the ole block, aren't you two?" We looked back at each other and laughed. I rubbed the back of my head, "I guess so. I just got so worried about you and Ka-chan, I ran into the combat building while you and Ka-chan were fighting. I hurt myself along the way." Midoriya's face returned to being serious, "You shouldn't have done that Nozomi! You could have been hurt way worse!" I crossed my arms, "I was trying to save you! If I got there any earlier, I probably could have stopped this from happening." I gestured to his broken state. He hushed and stayed silent. The awkwardness in the room was tangible. Recovery Girl finished wrapping Midoriya's left arm and patted him on the back, "Alright you two, classes are over. You need to see what you missed and then head home. Okay?" We both nodded.
