"Morning," Mary Mae opened her eyes to see the beautifully tanned face of a smiling Zach. He lay beside her, his head propped up by his elbow as she sleepily smiled at him.
"Hi Zach," Mary Mae had a small smile on her face as memories of the night before came back, she began to blush.
"Can I drive you to school?" His voice was so soothing and calm, cracking slightly, harshly due to a night of misuse; Mary Mae had to admit that it was kind of hot.
"What time is it?"
"It's six." Zach said, he sat up and ruffled his hair.
"Okay, I need to go shower and get dressed. If you want to go home and change you can, you can also use the guest shower downstairs. I think my mom's closet might have some things from my dad if you want to wear any of those." She said.
"How is your dad?" Zach asked. It was a sensitive topic and Mary Mae didn't ever want to bring it up.
"Probably onto the next twenty-year old willing to sleep with him." Mary Mae rolled her eyes and sat up. "He's supposed to stop by sometime next month actually if you wanted to talk to him. I swear, all he cares about is making money." Mary Mae felt the heat boil and fester inside her, the topic of her father was a sensitive one, thus it wasn't surprising that it triggered her. "Anyway, I think he has a few sweaters and jeans in moms closet."
Zach's eyes followed Mary Mae as she walked out of the room. As soon as she was out of sight, he fell back into the bed, staring at the ceiling with the biggest smile on his face. He felt accomplished and happy, a weight had been lifted and it seemed that Mary Mae was accepting of his emotions.
She walked back into her room a couple minutes later. Her hair was wet and her large, white bathrobe covered her entirely.
"I need to change," she announced as Zach lay on her bed, taking quiet, deep breaths. She realized he'd fallen back asleep and silently walked toward her closet to change. Once she walked out, she hopped on the bed and sat beside him, his long legs dangled off the edge as he lay diagonally.
She played with his hair while he slept, unsure of what to do or how to wake him up. She thought back to the night before. Their hot kisses that made her want more and more.
Gilbert's kisses were nothing like Zach's. Zach's kisses held a certain level of hunger and desire to them that Gilbert's lacked. Gilbert's kisses were soft, sweet, and gentle much like his persona. Whereas Zach was wild, soulful, fun, and loving if that made any sense. Mary Mae thought about how she hadn't had her first kiss until this week and now she had kissed two men within that time.
"Mars, hey, sorry I guess I fell asleep." Zach said, meeting Mary's eyes above him, a small smile on his face as he felt like butterflies had punched him in the gut. A rush of emotion engulfed him as he slowly sat up, staring at Mary's wet hair that almost looked brown now. He believed she was the most beautiful girl he had ever met.
"It's okay, we still have plenty of time." She smiled, "does this feel weird for you too?"
"What?" He asked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he placed a hand on her arm.
"Kissing each other... if I knew it would feel like that, I would've done it a long time ago." Mary Mae smiled as Zach mirrored her expression.
"I like kissing you too," he laughed, "but right now I think it would be a good idea if I brush my teeth. Is my toothbrush still in the guest bathroom downstairs?" Zach asked as he looked away from her and sat up completely, sliding to the edge of the bed. She'd never seen him insecure about his breath before.
