the meaning of the haikyuu teams' motto ( in how i interpret )

質実剛健 = Simplicity and Fortitude
so. simplicity and fortitude.
first thing first. fortitude means courage in pain or adversity. as you can tell, the johzenji current team doesnt show simplicity and fortitude, more of "just have fun/party all night" but the team's banner is actually damn good ah.
it simply means to play with a simple mind, dont think too much and play the game. it also means in a face of challenges (probs when losing) to continue playing without any doubt. it is a good things for normal life since one should really not fazed when challenge and also be simple i guess? if you can tell (based on the anime - im sorry i didnt read the manga yet) the johzenji team actually showed their banner meaning during the last few minutes. to plan simply, not randomly try to do things (my kids trying to do the synchronised attack) and also to continue trying despite them losing the game against karasuno. which i think was amazing.
(in my opinion)
the johzenji current team do not match the motto since they are more of the very carefree type. despite that, i feel their manager is trying their best to enforce the motto on them but i know she is just trying to continue the tradition. i have trust that the johzenji team will start to play properly just so they can play more. i believe they will start enforcing that motto for the next few batches. if not i think they should change the motto to "lets just have fun" haha
