time for work

(KAYLA'S POV)

I wake up with the sun on my eyes I turned my head and snuggled into the pillow more but it was a warm pillow. I open my eyes and I find myself looking at a shirt. Jens shirt that she wore yesterday. I get up and it looked like we fell asleep on the couch. I get off the couch and went to my room. I look at the clock and it said 7:30 and that meant we had a hour and fifteen minutes before we had to be there. I went and took a shower and went and put on my uniform. I decided to stick to a blood red head band and black flats with ankle straps. I put my hair in a pony tail and the last thing I put on was my name tag. I looked in the mirror and I looked different but better then I ever had before. I walk out of my room to wake Jen up but she was already up and ready. she was wearing the uniform with a black head band and a pair of ballerina flats. she looked beautiful. she walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a glass of water and spoke.

" you look beautiful Kayla" I blushed but replied

"you look beautiful too Jen " we hugged each and I checked the time. it was 8:25. we decided to go in early. we grabbed our jackets and left towards the diner. it was beautiful day.  we got in the truck and drove to the diner. we got there at 8:45 that is fifteen minutes before we had to be here. we enter the diner and we see ally helping some customers. today she had her red hair in a messy bun and she was wearing some black converse. she finished with the customers and came over and hugged us both I flinched at first but relaxed after I realized she was just hugging me. then she led us behind the counter and started giving instructions.

"Okay so Jen you will work with the cash register and Kayla you will take orders okay" I looked at Jen with fear and then she responded.

"um maybe I should take orders and Kayla should run the cash register"

"don't be silly I think that you both will be fine with the jobs I gave you okay now I will set Kayla up first and then you Jen okay" I was scared senseless. what if they treat me like the people that was in my old town,what if they hit me if I say something wrong and they get mad and-

"earth to Kayla" Jen was waving her hand in my face to get me to pay attention.

"oh s-sorry I was just thinking..."

"I know what you were thinking and remember what I said these people are not like our past they seem a lot nicer. Okay just see how you like it today" she gave me a warm and encouraging smile. I hug and followed ally to get my stuff for my new job. I was still nervous but Jen was right I have to try and plus we need the money. ally leads me to a cabinet full of supplies. she hands me a notepad and a pen and a apron to hold both of them. I tie the apron around my waist and put the notepad and pen in the pocket. she told what I ask and well yeah and then taught me how to balance the tray on my hand and then she said I was ready to do it for real now. she leads me back to the counter and spoke again.

"so if it makes you more comfortable you can take orders at the counter for your first week or two then you have to take orders at the tables okay"

"I think that would be best"

"Okay I am going to go help Jen and you can get started good luck" I see a customer come in and sit down at the counter. I take a deep breath and put a smile on my face and walked over to him.

"hi my name is Kayla and I will be your waitress today what would you like to drink" he smiled at me and spoke

"I will have a coke and might I say you look beautiful"

"Okay I will go get your coke and I will be back for your order and thank you for the compliment" I go get a cup and fill it up with ice and coke. I wonder  if he just said that to get in my pants or did he mean it. I brushed it off and brought him his coke.
