Fireworks

Guilty

I stepped inside the house,after  crying for 2 hours .
I had made up an excuse, But  knew jae would have told mom and dad everything.
I was going upstairs as I heard laughter from the kitchen.I peeped inside making sure no one notices me, and saw Jae and my parents happily sitting on the dining table and talking about Jae being the class topper.

Jae:Mom I'm so happy!
Mom: I know! Congrats again Jae. Im proud of you. But where is your sister. Im sure she is in top three .
Jae: Unfortunately. No mom ... She got a 65.
Mom: what!? Are you serious. How?! Where is she? She is not getting away with this!

I quickly ran upstairs. Tears buliding up in my eyes, closed the door behind me, threw my backpack on the bed and began sobbing.

Different thoughts popped up in my mind. "What about my reputation?"."What will professor think about me?". What will my friends think about me?"." Will mom and dad punish me?"." Why did it have to be Jae?".
I suddenly heard a knock at the door. Knowing it was mom, I wiped my tears, And opened the door with a poker face.

Mom: hi? I never saw you come inside... Where were you all this time?
Hannah: W-Well..I-I was with Katy.
Mom: Young lady, I heard you aren't in top three of your class.
Hannah: y-yeah I'm not...
Mom: It's ok!
Hannah: what!?? (I asked and looked at her in surprise) really!? It's ok?
Mom: Actually NO (she raised her voice causing me to flinch a little) Do you really thought it was ok! It's not at all ok.. Think about our reputation? Did you think that we would let you get away with this?! You're grounded!!

I lowered my head and listened to hear in silence.
What else could I do? I couldn't take this anymore.
Suddenly I made my way downstairs and to the front door and started running , glancing back every two seconds to look at my brother and father following and stopping me. But I was determined to run and run until their figures seemed to dissapear and exhaled. Beside me was a tall buliding and  shivers went through my body at the thought of jumping from it."I'm growing crazy"I said to myself. But what was the use of living with all this guilt of spoiling my family's reputation."Yeah they got Jae to keep up their reputation." Was the thought that struck my mind.
