New Year's Eve in Calum's house was going to be great. It was going to be loud. Luke and Michael insisted on bringing their guitars, and Ashton could make a drum out of anything. You were bound to hear some songs throughout the night.You filled your car's trunk with all kinds of snacks. They were going to run out quickly. They always did on special occasions.

You drove to their house. Calum himself opened the door. Everyone was already there. There were little kids running around and adults were chatting. Everyone started to talk about things that happened in the year. They all started to remember things that happened in the past. Most of the memories you talked about were funny ones. They made everyone laugh until their sides hurt.

"I challenge you to an eat-off!"

"Calum, I don't think that's what it's called"

He looked at you. "You understood, didn't you?"

"Unfortunately, I did"

He smiled at you as you shook your head.

"So, you up for it?"

"Don't I have to?"

You both went to the snack table and grabbed all that you could hold. You ran to the living room and started eating. Trash went flying everywhere and you couldn't believe you were actually chewing the food. You looked over at Calum and he just kept going. He was like a human vacuum. You kept going as well. You really wanted to beat him. When you were almost done with everything, you went back to the table and went for more. Soon, the food ran out.

"I won!" Calum looked at you with a smile.

"No you did not! I did!"

You both stared at each other.

"If only we had more food to settle this down..."

"I forgot all about it!" You looked at him and gave him a mischievous smile. You leaned closer to him and whispered, "I have more snacks in the trunk of my car!"

He looked to his left and right as if to make sure no one was listening.

"Well, let's go get them!"

You both crouched and started walking slowly. It was like a secret mission and your goal was to not be seen. You made it to the front door. You opened the door quietly. You both ran to your car. You unlocked the trunk and grabbed everything that was in there. You ran to the front door. Add you opened it, You looked both ways. The coast was clear. You went into the living room and dropped everything onto the floor. Calum rolled on the floor and landed next to you.

"You know what I just noticed?" He asked you.

"What?"

"The first thing we did this year was look for food!"

You both burst out laughing. Everyone came into the room and started wishing you a happy new year.
