CHAPTER 20: Runaway.

"Give it me."

"No. You can't do this to me."

"Listen if you have to go off the grid. I have to get rid of your phone."

"What about my friends, Tracy and Denise?" she said pouting giving me puppy dog eyes.

Right now, I was busy trying to get Scarlet to give me her phone. Which was proving to be a problem.

"Xavier, you can't separate a phone from a girl. That's like commiting suicide for me."

"Listen. You chose to come with me. I didn't sat it'd be easy."

"But.. but... Can't I keep my phone?"

"Either off the grid or it's as good as walking back to your father's house."

"Fine," she gave me the phone and I tossed it into the lake and it sunk to the bottom of the lake.

"You monster," she said running into the car and sitting in the passenger huffing. I chuckled. Too much drama. I walked to the other side of the car and entered the driver's seat.

"If it makes you happy, I'll get you a satellite phone."

"You're the best," she said hugging me placing a peck on my cheeks. "Are they like smart phones?"

"Not really. It's a block size with buttons."

She pulled back and sat in her chair. "I take back my kiss and hug."

"You'll get used to it."

I parked infront of the cabin that had a view over the sea. I got my bag out of the car and walked to the cabin. I looked at the rented cadillac. We had left the other car in a parking lot across the airport.

"Come on. We have to stay here until our papers are ready."

I picked the key from under the mat and unlocked the door. I walked in and she followed putting her bags inside as I closed it. She sat on the sofa sighing.

"How long do we have to wait for the papers?"

"We should be set to go by tomorrow morning so don't unpack your stuff. We are staying here for one night only."

"Where's the shower?"

"First room on your right down the hall."

"Thanks."

I was checking for food when I heard a scream from the bathroom. I ran and knocked on the door.

"You okay in there?"

There was no response so I gripped the knob slowly opening the door.

"Don't enter!" she half yelled in a panicked voice.

"What's going on in there?"

"Promise me you won't laugh."

"I won't."

"Okay I think I have just did a number 2 and I need you to get me some tissue." she said in one breath. I paused processing what she said before bursting into laughter.

"Stop laughing you oaf."

"Sorry, I can't help it." I said between laughs.

"Are going to get for me the tissue or not."

"Just a second."

I couldn't help it but fall on the ground laughing. She opened the door and glared at me her cheeks flushed.
