"Who are you?", I asked curling in on myself. This boy was very intimidating with his electric blue eyes and sandy hair shaved on the sides. This was also probably my seventh trainer in the Red Assassins camp South sector 5.

"Jonah, but I go by Cowboy", something wasn't right because this man was talking to me like an assassin does to their apprentice. Maybe he won't beat me and ridicule me like all the last six trainers who talked to me like I'm dirt. So, with stupid hope blooming again (just like all the last times), I stood up and out of the dark corner I was hiding in.

"Hi, I'm Rosalyn", I held out my freezing hand in the early December snowfall, when he refused to take it, I lifted my hand to wipe away the frozen tears on my face.

"Rule number 1, Rose. I'll call you that from now on and this will be your apprentice title", he said turning to walk towards the red brick building I'd run away from to drown in my sorrows. I stumbled to follow, because he had that air of respect around him, because he had given me a proper title. "Never touch another without having the possibility of being poisoned well set in your head"

"What?", I asked like the dumb fool I was, having been trained in what they called level 1 combat and only that, I had no idea how to survive in this deadly camp.

"First training: Mithridatism. Search that up tonight because we start tomorrow at oh four hundred", I looked up and realized we'd walked all the way to my small cabin. I looked at him, trying to make him understand what cruel tricks the students here played on me in my sleep. I never felt safe in a place that was supposed to be mine.

The next morning, I'd learnt that the hard and rough assassin, my trainer who'd murdered in cold blood and was now teaching me how, had slept on my doorstep in the cold. That's why I hadn't woken up to blood dripping on my face.

He'd seen all my troubles reflected on my face and more.

What a vivid memory, I thought as I sat up on the bed.

I stared up at the ceiling as the rest of them rushed back to me. Murmuring a small prayer for his damned soul, I swung my legs around to get off the bed.

Deciding to take a shower, I was annoyed to find a mess in the bathroom. Now that was one of the things I hated with all my might. It's why I'd always tried to have a bathroom all to myself. It's one of the reasons I bought this apartment next to Julia's. For safety purposes like last night and for a separate bathroom.

Sighing, I went around picking up all the cotton and ointment left open. I mean I really couldn't complain, that man had carried me all the way to the bathroom in my half delirious state. And had bandaged up my poor knuckles and the small slit on my calf. He'd also forced fed me painkillers then sat in the chair beside my bed until I fell asleep. Or maybe I'd imagined that part all by my wishful thinking.

All I know is that yesterday felt like a dream and a nightmare. If I knew all it took for Blaze to actually speak to me like a human was to get hurt, you bet I'd have stabbed myself.

Remembering the reason for my state I winced in actual physical pain. Because he'd always told me this would happen. Jonah had told me the future.

"The apprentice kills the master; such is the way of this world. It is only a matter of time because two of the same can never exist together for long. I only hope you become strong enough to defeat me when the time comes, such is the honor of an assassin- such is the pride of an assassin, Rose"
