"Is this a nightmare?", I asked in the dark, eyebrows knitted and body tight. "Because I see a Ghost", I lost the battle and finally cracked, then I was uncontrollably laughing, voice sore from days of quiet. "And a Shadow"
Both my friends stood a few feet away and in the barely lit room only my training could've helped me locate them. Ghost had a blank, bored look on his face. As if saying, you done yet? While Shadow was trying his damned hardest not to give in- face scrunched, brows furrowed and a withering glare.
Yeah, I think he found the joke funny.
"I'm glad this situation humors you, Beretta", I sobered at that looking around to check if anyone was within earshot. "Shhhh, Ghost!", I shushed him before he could carry on with his lecture "Rose, Call me Rose"
"You mean to tell us they know absolutely nothing of the damned situation we're in?", Shadow growls and flicks on the lamp, the hospital room illuminates to show white walls, white machinery next to me, a bathroom with a white door and just...white. Ew, God.
Shadow comes to stand on my left, from my sprawled angles he towers over me. Ghost gets the technique and takes his place on the right side of the bed. Towering would be an understatement in his case. Light reflects off his ebony skin and he glows like some enchanted magical being. With previously acquired scars, I noticed. I made a mental note to inquire about them.
"No, I didn't get around to that", I finally answered the unspoken question, chin tipped up daring them to criticize my decisions. They both remembered intimidation never worked on me.
"You fucking the VP? He looked quite out of it when you didn't come out of the clubhouse- on that note, What the fuck were you doing inside in the first place?", Shadow asked, completely ignoring Ghost staring daggers at him at that one word.
"I was in Church-"
"Church?! For crissake!"
"Shut up and listen for once, you dumb bag of expired fruit loops-", I'd had enough.
"Wha-", I held up my hand
"Jonah attacked me, posing as a random robbery instead of the murder attempt it was. Blaze was there and he witnessed me killing him. Club wanted answers"
"You- What? Ber, have you truly lost your mind?", Ghost's posh accent went a few octaves higher at the absurdity of the situation and he paced the room scratching at his bald head.
"The important thing is Crow is getting closer to the truth. He found out my trainer, sent him to kill me. I killed him- I killed the one who taught me my skills. Think about it", confusion blanketed their features. I sighed "This is why I'm the leader. See he is uncovering everything about me- my past- and in time he'll know all about the kills I faked and my connection to the Reaper's Disciples"
"Holy fu- Sorry", Shadow abruptly stopped, and I rolled my eyes at that. Typical Ghost and Shadow.
"Now, what are you doing here. And how long was I out?", I was genuinely curious. Didn't they understand the risks? Didn't they understand they'd be hunted like prey all over the world?
"It's been almost 2 whole days and, didn't you know? Where you go, we follow", I wasn't on my period, but emotions overtook my body and my eyes glassed over. Blinking furiously, I gave both my partners in crime a reassuring smile. I'm sure my pink rose gave away my emotional turmoil. I swear my body betrays me at every possible time.
Especially when I'm with that one man.
"What about that VP?", Ghost asks in that silken way of his. Only I know the hint of overprotectiveness hidden underneath. Shadow seems for eager for my answer too.
