3 YEARS LATER

Cora Adams woke up to the sound of singing birds as the sunlight fell on her. Throwing the covers of her, her feet curled up on the carpeted floor as she stretched her arms above her head. Her lips curled up in a smile.

Cora was and always has been a morning person. Walking towards the bathroom, throwing her nightgown in the laundry basket before she stepped inside the shower. Turning on the shower, her muscles relaxed as the warm water poured on her.

After a few minutes, she stepped out and put on her pale pink fluffy robe before heading towards the kitchen. After preparing her black coffee, she went outside on the balcony. Leaning against the railing, her hands in front of her holding the cup, she stared at the beach.

Watching and listening to the waves crashing against each other. Only a few people could be spotted around. Unsurprisingly, the view of the beach became the favorite part of her penthouse. During the weekends, she would always try to make time to watch the sunset.

Inhaling the morning fresh air, she headed inside to get ready for the day. Wearing her working clothes, she locked the door of her penthouse. The sound of her 5-inch heels against the tiled floor filled the hallway as she made her way towards the elevator.

Arriving at the parking area, she went to her pearl white BMW. Starting the car, she connected her phone with the car's Bluetooth before calling her assistant Amelia Stone.

"Good morning, Miss Adams," said Amelia.

"Morning. What's on today's agenda?"

"Miss, you have a meeting at 10:00 am with Coopers Limited. Then at 3:45 pm, you have a meeting about the contract signing with Mr. James Pierce. Also, Mrs.Carter canceled the meeting with you. Her assistant informed her that one of their branches in Canada is currently in a critical position so she would be going to Miami today."

"Thank You, Amelia," said Cora.

"Your Welcome, Miss," replied Amelia before Cora ended the call. She stopped her car as the light turned red. She started to tap on the steering wheel when one of the nearby cafe windows caught her eyes. A mother and her daughter were sitting together.

Their faces were glowing with happiness as they enjoyed each other's company. The girl's mouth kept on moving while her mother happily fed her the chocolate cake as she paid full attention to her daughter.

Maybe someday I will experience these types of moments. Cora knew she wanted children, however, she knew it's not the right time. Blaring horns made Cora come back to reality. The cars behind her were pressing their horns, telling her to move. Just then she realizes the light has turned green. She quickly switched to drive mode and pressed her right foot on the accelerator as the car sped away.

Half an hour later, Cora arrived at her office, Ambrose & Steele.Inc, heading towards the private elevator, nodding towards the receptionist when he greeted her. Arriving on her floor, she got out walking towards her office. Amanda quickly greeted her and followed Cora to her office as she carried her tab in her hand. When Cora was promoted to COO, HR hired Amanda Stone as her secretary.
