Neither of their marks were normal.
The mark on Jimin's back was on the far left, not black, but instead inked grey. When Jimin dreamed of one day getting his mark, of course, he had fantasies of his mark miraculously being special. Maybe instead of a heart tattoo, instead he would have a star or a circle. Instead of the heart being blank and simply and outline, he had silently wondered if people would praise him if his mark was instead filled.
But this?
This was definitely not something Jimin had been expecting to get.
Taehyung was clearly confused about his mark too. Neither of them had gotten their tattoos in the middle of their lower back, and neither of the tattoos were the color black. While Jimin's still freshly shone grey, Taehyung shone blue and was located in an awkward position. Like it was near the middle, but just to the right of it. At first, Jimin would've thought that it was simply just because Taehyung's body may have been built differently, but he soon deems that impossible. Taehyung just received his mark. Fresh, authentic, and impossible to be moved at that very time. For a mark to be moved anywhere but the middle of the lower back was only caused due to stretched of skin, surgeries, or of course, faking a mark.
It was silent for a while, and it was like the comfortable feeling the two had with each other vanished. It wasn't like Jimin's calling had changed. He still felt the upmost safety when he was with Taehyung. It was just that he no longer knew how to even speak.
"Obviously," Taehyung begins, and Jimin almost lets out a sigh of relief that he doesn't have to begin the conversation himself. "This is a little complicated."
"You're telling me." Jimin utters, running a hand through his hair. But then he freezes, suddenly worried. What if... what if it was his fault that their marks were like this? Jimin did have a forced marking before, so maybe in the middle of the new marking process, it was like some sort of cruel punishment. A reminder that Jimin wasn't normal, that he will never be normal.
Clearly, Taehyung could see the worried look in Jimin's eyes and his shoulders slump, and he begins to step forward to Jimin. He sits beside the male on the bed, his arm around the other's shoulder as he pulls the other closer, their warm bodies contacting one another once again that night.
The thing that was universally a positive trait about soulmates was the fact that no matter how much you two may hate each other at first, or how much you may be awkward around them upon first meeting, once you match, things come naturally after that. Conversation, touching, bonding, sexual stuff. While it all may come with time (and a tad bit of effort depending on how impatient some can be), everyone will basically become one with their soulmate. Their other half.
So, despite the awkwardness in the air because of the uniqueness of their marks, Jimin leans into Taehyung's comforting and warm touch.
"It's not your fault. Just like it's not my fault, and it's not the resorts fault." Taehyung himself believed that the last one was debatable, but he doesn't voice that out loud. "It's possible that we're just different in a way that science may not be able to comprehend yet." He explains. Then Jimin's eyes go wide and a smile appears on his plush lips.
"Saengsan! He can help us figure it out." Jimin exclaims, his voice clearly excited at his problem-solving. But, in all honesty, the resort manager was the last person Taehyung really wanted to see. The guy gave off creepy vibes, and Taehyung is never going to get over the fact that Saengsan seemed to pop at just the right time to save Jimin and Taehyung.
"Doll, I don't think that's the best idea," Taehyung says, a slight grimace on his face as he rubs over Jimin's knuckles. Jimin clearly deflates slightly upon hearing the other veto the option, and Jimin doesn't quite understand why. Saengsan was more than trustworthy. He was the manager of literally the biggest place on earth and has helped over hundreds- no- thousands of people finally find their soulmate. Their long lost other half. Besides, Saengsan didn't have to come in and help JImin and Taehyung. Now Jimin was extremely confused.
