The Dream Hole

"Mary, what's that behind you?"

"Huh?"

"Looks like someone needs help." a deep laughing voice behind Mary.

"Hello, I'm Diode. But you can call me your friend, right?"

"Never! You are a threat to everyone!" Mary yelling at Diode. 

"But how did you get in here? Mary, didn't you set up the shield?" 

"I DID!" confused Mary.

"Yeesh, relax. Have a cup of tea! Mary, I can see anything, go anywhere across people's dreams. Right now you both are in a dream loop and your memory is disconnected, so have fun. Cheer!"

"Wait! Noooooo" slowly Mary's voice fading.

"Wher- where am I? Who am I? There is a library. Maybe I came to take some books. 
...
Strange, no one's here, except the librarian. 
Umm, excuse me, where is everyone?"

"Sorry ma'am, but there's no one here today, except you. Which book do you want to read? Need any help? We got a new collection of books about human memory, do you want to read them?" Librarian's joyful voice.

"Thank you so much. Yes, I would love to read! I'll ask if I need any help.
…
Okay, so let's read some interesting books."

30 minutes of intense reading…

"How much do I need to pay?"

Librarian replied, "This is an open library, so we don't charge for reading here. Cause, every knowledge is good knowledge. "

Another guy, who looked like Charles, entered the library and crashed with Mary.

"Oh I'm so sorry! Hope I didn't hurt you!"

"It's fine! You didn't hurt me...But, do I know you?"

"Maybe you saw me on the streets?"

"Oh maybe. Never mind, have a great day!"

Both Charles's and Mary's mind were disconcerting partially so they didn't remember each other.

"I don't know why it seems that I know that guy." Confused Mary.
"Maybe I should have some chocolate ice cream."

Charles came back from the library and headed towards the ice cream stall.

"Oh, hey there! We met again!"

"Hi!" Mary smiled, unconditionally. 

"Nice to meet you again! Well, you remind me of my girlfriend. You look the same as her. I don't know why I can't recall her name tho."

"Well not only you, even I cannot remember who I am. Only thing I can recall is that you are looking the same as my boyfriend. But how is this possible? And this place is so calm and quiet. No people except the librarian and the ice cream vendor... Okay, so the ice cream vendor disappeared in thin air. Strange! Let's go to the library and see if we can find anything about it."

"Let's go. Well, what's your name?"

"I told you, I don't remember. Well what's your name?"

"I don't remember too. Well, may I call you Mary? I don't know but I like this name!"

"Yeah, sure! Well may I call you Charles? I like this name! Haha!"

"Yeah, sure!"

Both went back to the library but it also wasn't there anymore. Instead, they found a box with a riddle.

"Now where is the library?"

"Umm, Mary, there is a box. Look, a riddle!"

"A record of every action remains in you.
Every world you visit, it resides in you.
To know your records, open the jar.
Take your time, but don't go too far."

"This is crazy! What does that mean?" Mary.
