We would never relive our reckless summertime
We had to learn how to be happy with no sweet wine
But I still listen to our old songs, and I can remember the voices
Of kids I thought would never die, no matter our bad choices,
We had each other.
And that's what I hold on to:
We needed so hard to grow up,
But we had each other.
Even if believe we were lonely, we were not alone.
We had each other as kids living through growing pains.
To those who survived, know you still live in my heart
To those who are gone, I still grieve in your tombstones.
The memories triggered bring me back the taste of wine
They bring me back our laughs while we ran downtown
Like traffic couldn't hit us, like life could never hurt us,
We would never have our voices silenced, nor quiet down,
We had our summer songs to sing to, deep from our lungs.
