Sorry these are not very interesting I promise eye yam trying. But anyways look at the picture above I think it's cute and kinda inspired this chapter 😽
There she was. I don't know her name, nor where she's from. But I do know that she looks angelic in her dress. Her hair was a dark brown and kept down, with beads forming what I could only call "hair loopies " in the front. She had a warm and gorgeous smile and pure blue eyes. Occasionally I'd see her hanging out with an older guy, but based off how she seemed more annoyed with him than anything, I'd say he was her brother.
I plan on talking to her, but I have no clue when to strike up the conversation. I'm a pretty friendly person, but I feel flustered. I ended an 100 year war, but I can't talk to a girl. I can feel the past avatars shaking their heads at me in the afterlife. But she wasn't just some girl you meet everyday, she had a warmth to her that I just can't explain.
I do know I don't have all night though. This ball was only planned because it was a chance for all the important people to meet up and play nice for the night. And as the avatar, they usually have plans to introduce me to everyone, and claim how close they are to me to seem more impressive. I don't care for it, but it makes them feel better, and I guess that's fine.
As I began to ponder what fake memories people will claim to have with me tonight, I heard glass tapping. Standing in the center of everyone was a muscular man, who seemed to be dressed in Southern Water Tribe clothes. Sat right next to him was the girl I saw before, still as gorgeous as when I first saw her.
"Hello everyone, For any of you who do not know, I am Hakoda of the Southern Water Tribe and have been your host this evening. This is my son Sokka and daughter Katara, I am honoring my son Sokka tonight as he has become engaged in this past month to Suki of The Kyoshi Island. I wish good fortune on my son and to my future daughter in law, I'd like to prepare a few toasts-"
KATARA! Thats her name, she's the daughter of the chief, the chief who hosted this party, how could I not know? All I need to do now is wait out Chief Hakodas speech and find a way to talk to Katara. Of course, it definitely seems more impossible now since I know the muscular man who could definitely beat me up is her dad.
He finished his toasts and everyone began to go back to talking. This is my chance, all I have to do is say Hi. But right as I walked up to her-
"If you're here to ask my hand in marriage, the answer is no. Chief of the southern water tribe isn't as impressive as you think, so trust me when I say you won't get any benefits from marrying in. You're not the first to think of this and you won't be the last." Katara said quickly, without even having to look at me.
I felt stunned. Why would anyone marry her for that. If that's their only reason, I think they're blind.
"That's not what I was going to say, but at least you're straightforward." I chuckled.
She finally looked at me, and her eyes widened.
"Oh my god. Oh my god. I am so sorry. I had no idea that you were the avatar and if I had known-" she begins apologizing.
"Hey. Don't worry about it, I imagine that you're tired of tonight. But to get your mind off of fake proposals, how about I tell you about myself?"
"Oh. Um. Sorry for what I said , but yeah okay."
"My name is Aang, and I'm the avatar if it's not already obvious because of my arrows. I have a sky bison right outside and a lemur named Momo who keeps trying to break in."
She laughed, which was the most perfect laugh I think I've ever heard.
"Well my name is Katara, daughter of Hakoda and Kya. My brother is the one who just got engaged, and I don't really enjoy balls or parties, other than the dancing aspect."
"You like dancing? I do too! It's how I cope with being forced to come here."
She laughed again, and I laughed with her. She's easy to make conversation with, and she's so perfect up close. I can't help but adore her, it's something about tonight that makes her so memorable.
We talked for a while longer, just enjoying each other's company. Suddenly the music changed and people gathered together in partners. It was a slower beat, but fast enough to keep you moving. Perfect.
"Hey, since we both like dancing, how about you have this one with me? I promise it'll be worth it Katara." I asked her, feeling a blush creep across my face.
She blushed too for a second, but fortunately accepted my request. We got near the middle of the dance floor, near other couples, and I could feel my face heat up. We danced hand in hand to the rhythm, while Katara kept smiling at me.
     "What?" I asked.
"You know, I've talked to you for maybe just 15 minutes and I've had more fun than any other guy I've been forced to spend an entire day with."
"Then maybe we should talk again after this? I promise I'm not hard to find."
"Another promise Aang? How nice of you to do my dear avatar." She laughed at her own words.
"I'm serious, you can talk to me whenever, Republic City puts out news about me every two minutes, and I live in the center of it in air temple island. We could plan a day together. I need more company, and you seem to be perfect for that ."
"Perfect? Oh, well then I guess I should come, but you'd have to talk to my dad first because this sounds an awful lot like dating." She laughed again, but I have no clue if she's genuinely considering it. She thought for a second and gave me a much more real response.
"You know what? Sure, we can plan a day together. I'd very much like to get to know you better. And your lemur Momo."
We smiled at each other . I noticed how perfect her lips looked, how her hair stayed so perfectly placed the entire night, how her eyes were such a pure shade of blue, and the way she had the softest skin. I couldn't help but adore her. And it seemed she was admiring me too.
The party ended, and even though we said goodbye, I still felt happy. I met the perfect girl and got her to agree on a date with me within fifteen minutes. She laughed at my jokes and danced with me. Even in such a short amount of time, I think she's gonna stuck around in my life.
