I stirred awake to the early morning sun shinning through the curtains and turning my new room a sunny yellow. Stretching, I got out of my warm bed and opened my curtains. I let the warm, fresh air touch my face and I smiled a warm smile. Polis was beginning to wake as the streets began to fill with people and a sense of pride came over me as I realised that I ruled this beautiful city, but with that I ruled the twelve clans and all of the land, I needed to keep them in order and today I had a meeting with the ambassadors to sort out the clans responsible for the attack on Polis.
I walked back in my room and grabbed my commander clothes and dressed myself and clipped my shoulder amour on and put the headpiece on my forehead. Then I attached my sword, dagger and the commander's horn to my belt. Once I was done getting ready, I opened the doors and two guards were stationed outside.
"Heda," they both greeted and bowed their heads.
"Good morning," I replied, a little taken back by the fact I had guards, but I guess I would have more security as I'm commander now.
My stomach rumbled and I realised how hungry I was, I hadn't eaten since yesterday morning, before the conclave. I stepped in the lift and headed to the first floor to the food hall.
I entered the food hall to the few warriors and guards standing up to greet me.
"Good morning, Heda."
"Hope you are well, Heda."
I nodded in response to their kind words and gave a small smile until I got to the food table. I dumped some bread, eggs and meat onto a plate and sat on the commander's chair at the end of an abandoned table. While I ate, I looked around the food hall at the many guards and warriors piling in for their breakfast all laughing and joking. In the crowd I noticed a face I recognised, a girl walking with a big, muscly man. They were laughing with each other, but they stopped when they neared me.
That's when I recognised the girl.
"Nala!" I exclaimed.
The red head smiled in recognition, "Y/N!" She blurted out, but then she looked down to her feet, a little embarrassed. "I mean Heda, sorry."
I laughed, "it's okay."
The man who I assumed was Nala's father looked between us, a little confused at our encounter.
Nala looked up to the man, "father, this is Y/N. The girl who rescued me and Yara from the Azgeda warriors," Nala introduced me.
The man's expression turned to a cheerful smile, "thank you, Heda. I wouldn't know what to do without my daughter," he gave a small bow.
I smiled, "I try to always help those in need. What is your name, sir?" I ask.
"I'm Soron," he replied.
I offered my forearm, "well Soron, I look forward to working with you."
Soron took my forearm, "and I you, Heda."
I got up from my seat, "I must go, I have matters to attend with the council. Have a good day," I nodded my head towards the two.
"See you soon, Heda," Nala bowed.
"Hope all goes well," Soron nodded.
I smiled and took my plate back to the kitchens and then made my way to the throne room to attend the meeting.
***
The doors opened to the throne room.
"Rise for your commander," Titus ordered the ambassadors to stand from their chairs.
