I wake up and squint my eyes, quickly turning to my side and rub my eyes. The rays of sunshine were peeking through my apartment's window. I get up and stretch, yawning in the process. I was on the couch and Logan was on the carpet, fast asleep. I quietly get up and head for the bathroom doing the daily routine of brushing my teeth, washing my face, and gargling salt and water then off to the kitchen and start whipping up pancake mix to cook for breakfast. Three pancakes made and Logan yawns, still not getting up. I continue on cooking, thinking that he might be awake but a few minutes passes by and he's still lying down. He must be really tired. I thought to myself and continued on with my business. It was quiet in the apartment, just the sound of the pancake cooking filled the silence. When the pancakes were all cooked, I set them on the counter and wait for Logan to get up. I turn on the TV and sit on the couch, putting the volume on low. Dora the Explorer was on Nick Jr. and I checked the clock, it was still 8AM. I woke up too early, considering the fact that Logan and I slept at around 3AM last night.
Dora was about to sing her 'We Did It' song when Logan gets up and has a dazed look on his face. His hair was messy and one of his eyes were closed while the other was open, he looks around and he sees me. He immediately smiles and just like clockwork, I smile as well. "Good morning, sunshine." I mouth to him and he gets up, stretching and heading for the bathroom. I prepare the table and I sit down, waiting for him to get out. After a few minutes, he gets out of the bathroom and takes a seat beside me.
"Good morning, Diandra. Man, I'm sorry I had to keep you waiting. I woke up awhile ago when you were cooking but fell asleep again." He takes a pancake and drizzles it with syrup.
"It's alright, Dora kept me company anyway." I say, taking a bite out of my pancake. "You're tired, huh?" I look at him and he had dark circles under his eyes. "What time did you sleep?"
He yawned again. "After you fell asleep, I was drowsy already." He rubs his eye. "Great pancakes, by the way."
I chuckle. "Of course, it's the family secret. The Pillsbury family secret."
We both laugh. "Yeah, every family in America's secret pancake mix." He scoffs. "So, do you want to do anything before we head for Jake's party? It doesn't start till 7PM so we have a long day ahead of us."
I scratch my head. "Well, I'd just like to stay at home. If that's alright with you though."
"Do you play video games?"
"I actually do." I nod.
"Well, I have a PlayStation 3 in my apartment, do you want to play some video games in awhile?"
My face lights up and I grin. "I'd love to!"
He smiles. "I'll bring it down here after I shower."
"I'll just go there, you already spent the night here, it's my turn to return the favor of crashing in your apartment." I laugh and he nods.
We finish the pancakes and he helps me wash the dishes. "I'll just take a shower, text me when you're heading up, alright?" He gets his backpack from the kitchen counter and lazily slips on his shoes.
"Sure thing. See ya in a few." I say as he closes the door behind him, and the apartment is quiet. I plug my phone to the stereo and turn on the radio filling the place with music by Fall Out Boy.
I hum to Sugar, We're Goin' Down and head for the shower. While in the shower, I took the time to sing my lungs out and air guitar to their other songs. I happily did this, I was in a good mood today. Once done, I step out of the shower and dry myself, slipping on dark blue shorts and a white v-neck. I unplug the phone from the stereo and text Logan.
