"Give aunt Diandra a kiss, Zac!" Zara calls her son from across the room and he runs to her, squealing. He wraps his arms around her leg and bites it. "Give aunt Diandra a kiss!" She says again and he looks at me with a grin on his face. He looked like Zara, except he had green eyes which contrasted his black hair.
He walks toward me and I kneel down and turn my face so he can kiss my cheek. "Mwaaah!" He kisses my cheek and it was wet from his spit. He giggles and hugs me. I pick him up.
"You're a big boy, aren't you?" I look at him and he pokes my eye, giggling in the process.
"Don't do that, Zachary!" Zara says, tapping his hand ever so lightly. "Say sorry."
"Sorry." Zac quietly says and pouts.
"It's okay, big boy!" I hug him and he squeals in delight. I let him down and he runs to Zari.
"Hey, Diandra." Zari waves at me and I wave back.
Zara gets her car keys and kisses her son. "Take care of Zac, you fool!" She tells Zari.
"Like I don't." She rolls her eyes. "You better bring me pizza. Let's go, Zac. Time for a bath." He runs to the bathroom taking his shirt off in the process. "Slow down, jeez." Zari follows behind him.
"Let's go." I follow Zara to the garage and we get in her red Audi. I should probably get a car, even if it was just a second-hand. "I'm so excited to see this movie! Channing better be topless!" She squeals in excitement.
"Calm down." I chuckle. "It's an action movie, so it's pretty much just him running around with a gun."
"I'd touch his guns." She laughs and I shake my head, laughing as well.
We drive in silence, quietly humming to A Thousand Miles on the radio. "Soooo.." Zara breaks the silence.
I look at her. "Yeah?"
"You and Logan, huh?" She looks at me quickly, winking.
I scoff. "No, it's not like that. We're just friends."
"Sure you are, D. Sure you are. That's probably why he's been taking you out on dates and taking you to Santa Monica to meet his family." She sticks her tongue out at me.
My eyes widen. "How did you know?"
"Jesus, D. He asks me advice about what would be a good idea to woo a girl. I asked him who this girl is, and he just tells me I don't know her." She turns for the mall parking lot. "But I'm pretty sure I have an idea who this girl might be. Stop being so oblivious."
"It might not be me, y'know." I shrug and she smacks the back of my head when we get a parking spot. "Ouch!" I do the same to her.
"Either you're just playing dumb or you really don't see it, D. Logan likes you and I might get the hunch that you do too. So I'm telling you," We get out of the car and walk to the entrance. "I hope the two of you get together or one way or another, either of you will get tired waiting for the other to confess about your profound love-" I cut her off.
"You make it sound like a drama movie, Zara." I chuckle.
"It is because it's true!" She continues. "In the end, maybe nothing will happen and I will murder Logan if nothing did. Both of you are just too shy to admit it to each other."
"Stop, you make me want to vomit." I take a deep breath. Talking about Logan having feelings for me makes me uneasy, in a way that there are so many butterflies in my stomach.
"It's that feeling, D." We line up for the tickets at the cinema. "You don't have to tell me you like him, I can see it. And you kind of gave it away about by being so defensive." She laughs.
