"Ellody Zoey Mattson you better come down here fast before your food decomposes!" I blink back tiredness and throw my blanket off of me. The cool air chills me as I put on my mint green slippers and head down the stairs.
"First day of school and you are already cutting it close." I roll my eyes at her statement and say, "What else is new Mrs. Alarm clock?" I laugh as I scarf down my eggs and toast. I look up to see her smile as she throws my heavy backpack at me.
"You better get used to an alarm soon, once you are at college I am not going to wake you up." "Bet," I look at her with a relaxed expression. She looks at me with a sickly sweet grin and steps to the side so I see the time. I choke on the last bite of my toast as I scurry out of the door. I hear my sister yell, "You aren't gonna thank me? Next time I expect a 'Thank you Mrs. Alarm clock'!"

I rush to the front door of the school before hearing a familiar voice. "Ellody congratulations for your 250th time being late at this school. What an accomplishment!" Sarcasm drips from the secretary's voice. I follow her inside and fill out a form, not even needing to look at where i'm signing.
"I am starting to wonder if we should give you a trophy, like the ones for the kids with the best attendance. You would win it in a heartbeat." "Next time Ms. Drake I will not-" "You will not be late anymore and will prove to me that you can be early. I have heard this a million times before."
I chuckled and asked where everyone is right now. She explained that the principal is holding an assembly, and is explaining the rules of the school for all of the grades. "You should probably start heading for your first class, that way you might actually make it there on time." I give her a big grin and thank her as I start to walk to the senior portion of the school.

The school is divided into two floors, with two grades on each. The bottom floor has the cafeteria and the gym, as well as the freshman and sophomore classes. I turn and face the stair well as I walk up the 19 steps to reach the junior and senior level. I walk through the junior hallway and stop before separation. I hype myself up and confidently stroll through the empty abyss that is a hallway.
