Beholding heaven, and feeling hell

...

"Care to explain?" Khun asked, glancing sideways at me.

...

"...How much has Baam told you about his past?" I replied quietly, shifting my gaze to Khun's.

His gaze searched mine for a moment before he spoke.

"...Baam was very vague about his past," Khun replied, looking pointedly at Baam's unconscious form, "and I don't make a habit of prying into people's private affairs."

"...I see."

...

"Look, I'm not asking for your life story...I just want to know why Baam would pull off a stunt like that." Khun snapped, a blush rising to his cheeks.

...Did he just...blush?

...

...And here I thought Rak was the tsundere of the trio.

"...I didn't say anything." I said, my lips quirking slightly with amusement.

Don't worry, Khun. No one's accusing you of being a busybody~

"...You were thinking it." Khun muttered, somewhat accusingly.

"...If that's what you want to believe." I said, holding back a smile.

I heard Khun grumble something unintelligible and probably unrepeatable.

The conversation quickly tapered off.

We sat in silence for a few minutes, both of us lost in thought.

...

"Hmm..." I hummed, gaining Khun's attention.

How should I word this without sounding like a complete egomaniac?

"So...about Baam...Well, you see, the thing is, um..."

Man, this is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

"...What you must understand about Baam is that he's very attached to me...too attached, I'm afraid." I finished lamely.

...

Khun's eye twitched in annoyance. He was clearly unimpressed by my explanation, and rightly so.

...A true wordsmith...that's what I am. I thought sarcastically to myself.

...It probably didn't help that Baam had, until recently, been my only company for months.

"I'll give you ten minutes." Khun said, closing the door behind him.

*Click*

Baam and I were alone in the room.

I shifted uneasily in my seat.

...You can do this. I thought to myself, steeling my resolve.

I leaned forward in my chair, studying Baam's sleeping form...I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen him so peaceful-looking. He looked so relaxed that I almost didn't want to wake him -almost being the operative word.

I tentatively raised my arm, placing a pale, clammy hand on his soft cheek.

The worst of the damage's already been done...I made sure of that, alright.

I closed my eyes and focused on the bond between us.

A familiar burst of energy surged through my body, creating a tingling sensation.

I reached out to Baam.

It's time to wake up, Baam.

There was a tense silence as I waited for his reaction.

...Baam?

Baam's eyes snapped open, zeroing in on my face.

!

I jerked my hand away, seeing the crazed look in his eyes.

Baam proved quicker, however, grabbing my arm and pulling me back towards him.

I stumbled forwards, falling into his embrace.

My breath hitched.

"...Let go."

Baam answered by tightening his grip on my arms, making me wince.

"I said, let go!" I all but cried out, desperation lacing my words.

The door burst open.

*Wham!*

Khun crossed the room in a couple of strides, pulling us apart with ease.

He's strong.

"What's going on here?!" Khun said in a loud whisper, a steely glint in his eye.

"...Sorry, I have to go." I muttered, all but running to the door.

Baam made to follow me but was held back by Khun.

"Sunna!" Baam all but shouted. "I'm sorry! I swear I didn't do it on purpose!"

That only makes it worse.

"...I just thought we could do 'the thing' we always do...you know...the thing you were doing just now..."

I all but slammed the door behind me.

"I still think you could've done things in a different way."

...Well yes, but actually no.

After all, there are no easy solutions when it comes to dealing with an addict.
