The next day during lunch, Liz sat at her usual table (the popular table) with her usual crowd (the popular people). Lance Grey, the captain of the football team, sat next to her. Liz suspects that he;s attracted to her. Since he's a jock and she's a cheerleader, it would work out for them.
“Heard that you're stuck with a loser for chemistry.” he said.
“Who told you that?”
“Charlie told me,”
“Oh... I see,”
Liz picked at her food on her tray, not in a good mood. She stood and grabbed her tray, mumbling, “I gotta go,” to her friends.
She ran out of her cafeteria to her locker. She was having a bad day.
First, she woke up late and missed the bus, which means, her mom had to drive her to school. It was a long ride filled with nagging. Then, during Math, Miss Matthews called her up and told her that she needs a tutor as she is failing in her class. Recently, during lunch, someone grabbed the last cup of fro-yo before she could. Usually, she could out-grab anything she wants.
Now I have chemistry, she thought.
She reached into her locker and took out her chemistry books. She slammed her locker shut and decided to head to class early. She needed to be earlier. Liz poked her head into the classroom and was surprised to see Drake there with no Miss Carter.
Drake looked up from whatever book he was reading and said, “Hey,”
She sat next to him and mumbled, “Hey,”
This is going to be awkward, she thought.
Before Drake could say anymore, the bell rang and students began to come inside. When Liz saw Charlie, Charlie shot her a look that said, “Where were you?”
Liz mouthed, “I'll tell you later,” to her.
