Wednesday came around faster than either of them had expected.
In Jihyun's case, she had forgotten about it entirely.
She was walking around the dining hall with Doyeon when Ryujin came up to them.
"Jihyun, what are you doing here?"
Jihyun turned, confused at the girl's sudden brash statement. "I... why can't I... be here?"
"No, no, not like that, I mean today's Wednesday, you told Eric you'd grab lunch with him no?"
Shoot.
"Right! Oh my god it slipped my mind." Jihyun turned to Doyeon, "I'm so sorry I know we haven't gotten lunch in forever but-"
"Go." Was all Doyeon said in reply.
"What?"
"Go Jihyun it's lunch with that cute guy from MT for god's sake you don't have to explain it to me now, just remember to tell me all about it after." Doyeon gave her a friendly shove towards the door.
"Ok, I'll text you." Jihyun gave her a quick side hug before beelining towards the exit.
"I saw him earlier by the elevators!" Ryujin called out as Jihyun began quickly walking away.
"Thank you Ryujin!" She called back picking her pace up to almost a run.
It was busy in the canteen, most classes got off for a lunch break around now so it made sense. However, that doesn't mean it didn't irritate Jihyun.
Out of all the days for it to be jam-packed and busy it just HAD to be when I was running late to an appointment.
She weaved her way in and out of different groups of students, trying her best not to shove anyone despite the fact that she really really wanted to. Jihyun finally made it into the open. Ryujin had told her she'd seen him by the elevators... but there were three different ones on this floor.
Although, she didn't have to go check all three. With a quick glance at the first elevator, there he stood. Eric, with a blue baseball cap sitting messily in his windblown golden hair. He was wearing a white tank top, his upper arm exposed just enough under the varsity jacket he had on over top.
"Jihyun!" He called out with a wave.
She shook her head to clear her mind.
Get it together Jihyun, stop staring at him.
"Hey!" She picked up that little awkward half-jog people did when they saw their friends in the distance.
"Hi," He smiled at her. "I owe you lunch right?"
She smiled back, "You don't have to say it like that, I told you that the bet didn't matter."
"And I told you that I'm a man of his word."
"Yeah, right, right, whatever you say," She brushed him off. "So, where to?"
Eric paused to think, mumbling under his breath and listing off restaurant names to himself for a solid minute.
He turned back to her, a curious glint in his eyes. "I've got a place."
"I don't like that look on your face," She said, narrowing her eyes. "I bet you have something dumb thing up your sleeve Eric."r
"Nothing, I promise." He threw his hands up in fake-surrender. "Look here's the plan, we'll grab food first and then we'll head to a spot I know, how's that sound?"
Jihyun cocked her head to the side, "So we're not going to a bistro or a café? If we're getting here something why don't we just eat it here... in the dining hall."
"You're no fun," He rolled his eyes, "Look around you Jihyun, it's loud noisy and I doubt we'll even find a table. So how about you just trust that I know a good spot, yeah?"
"Fine." She agreed, "But you better not pull something dumb."
