Y/N and I decided to call it a night and to reconvene the following day. So I'm back in the plush velvet chair, skipping class (sorry professor), and observing the older woman as she gazes out the window to the street beyond.
Today she wears a black button down and navy pencil skirt along with a thoughtful look. She stands by the window, her arms crossed. She does not turn to me as she speaks.
"No, I could never do that to him. He was happy and it wasn't in my place to take that from him." She turns to me, "this was a life he led long before we met and even if our time together ended it was a life he would have continued."
"What about children? Did you ever consider starting a family?"
Y/N takes in the question as she walks to a small end table, picking up the photo frame there and handing it to me.
In the photo Y/N stands next to the tall, broad man, Jaebum. His arm is around her waist and while she smiles to the camera he is smiling looking down at her. Next to Jaebum is another man, Y/N points him out as Jinyoung and next to her is Mark.
Sitting on the ground in front of them is Jackson, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom.
"It's a funny photo, it reminds me of a class photo... but that's my family. They're really all I needed"
I return the photo to her and she takes a seat on the couch, staring down at it with a loving smile. "This was back in 2027, I was 28. Jaebum and I did talk about children once..."
~
Jaebum's head rested in your lap, your hands running through his hair as you watched the TV. You watched the dad on screen run around with his toddler.
"Do you ever want to be a dad?" The question slips out before you even think it over, your hand stops mid-stroke.
There is no reaction from your husband, his eyes remain on the television. You peer down at him waiting for his response. The seconds tick by but he remains silent.
"Never mind." You whisper, resuming your motions. Jaebum rolls so he is now looking up at you, his features neutral. It's drives you nuts when he does this - it was a simple yes or no question.
"Do you want me to be a dad?" He asks. You scowl at him. "That's not for me to decide, it's a question specifically for you to answer."
He smiles. "Okay, then do you want to be a mom?"
You look back at the tv. The father on screen pushes his daughter in a swing, the little girl is giggling joyfully, her hands gripping the ropes tightly. "I don't know. I've never really thought about it."
"Well, you let me know. If you want them I'll gladly help, but personally..." he trails off, his eyes brows scrunching together and turns to face away from you. "Personally... it kind of scares me. I don't know if I'd be a good dad."
You smile and place a kiss on his cheek. "You'd be an amazing father, but I understand." You laugh a little, "Maybe in the next life."
And you both return to silence as the sound of children fill your living room.

"Besides, we already had BamBam and Yugyeom. It's practically like having children with them around."
"And in a way, I think we were scared. It's one thing for us as adults to live our lifestyle, but I don't think it was one to raise children in. I think that was an unspoken agreement between us."
I jump when a knock comes from the front door. Y/N answers and in walks a tall, thin man. His age shows more clearly on his face than Y/N, the wrinkles on his forehead and around his eyes and mouth are much more prominent.
The man looks shocked to see me sitting in the living room. He holds what looks like a box of leftovers in his hands that he passes off to Y/N.
"Sohee this is BamBam, BamBam meet Sohee. She's interviewing me for a school project."
I stand and bow deeply to him, he bows back.
"It's nice to meet you." Though his body is aged his voice still sounds young.
After taking the box to the kitchen, Y/N returns to her spot on the couch, inviting BamBam to sit next to her.
"BamBam and Youngjae are really the only boys I see regularly. After Jaebum's death Mark returned to America and Jackson to China, sometimes he sends me postcards. I believe Yugyeom joined another family and continued in his work."
"And Jinyoung?" I ask tentatively. BamBam speaks up for this question. "Jinyoung disappeared. None of us have seen or heard from him in 23 years, but we haven't gotten a funeral notice so he must be out there somewhere."
Y/N tells me that Youngjae got married. "He has two girls, one of them is 20? The other 16, is that right Bam?" He nods to confirm. "They come visit sometimes when they come up from Busan."
"That little bar Jaebum owned is BamBam's now. It's not in my skill set to own a business." BamBam quickly excuses himself, saying he just wanted to drop some food off.
Apart of me wishes I could have asked him some questions to get a deeper look on the inside of the Seven's, but no one wants to self incriminate.
