chapter fourteen

standing in the airport on my way to surprise billie, i tried my hardest to contain my excitement. i hadn't seen billie in months, she was on tour and i wasn't able to go with her because of my schoolwork.

finneas was coming to pick me up and he was also going along with the plan i had came up with to surprise her. billie didn't have a clue what was gonna happen which made the excitement bubble inside of me.

speak of the devil, my phone buzzed with a message from billie popping up on my screen. i pouted as i read her message, my heart breaking not being able to tell her.

i closed my imessage app when i seen that she had read my message and sighed, disappointed that i couldn't tell her but excited that she didn't know what was gonna happen.

"isla!" a familiar voice shouted and i looked up from my phone, seeing finneas jogging up to me with claudia by his side.

"oh my god, isla!" claudia shouted, immediately wrapping me up into a hug, her arms going around my waist while i buried my face in her neck.

"i missed you clauds." i said, a few tears coming to my eyes.

i hadn't seen claudia since she was last on tour which was nearly a year ago so i had definitely missed her a lot. she let go of my waist and i only then remembered finneas was also with us.

i smiled and threw my arms around finneas neck, letting him lift me up into his arms. finneas and i had always been so close, not as close as billie and i but we were definitely very close friends.

we laughed as finneas dropped me back onto the ground and i grabbed my suitcase, finneas also grabbing one and we walked to the black suv that a security guard was driving.

within minutes, we had arrived at the venue billie was playing at tonight. there was already a few fans stood outside and they all screamed when they saw us walking up to the venue.

finneas, claudia and i greeted a few of the fans before walking into the venue, down a few corridors and into the green room. billie was talking to a few producers and her manager about the show while i greeted maggie and patrick.

"isla, i missed you." maggie said, a huge smile on her face.

i giggled and wrapped my arms around her, happy that she was happy to see me. she grabbed my shoulders and smiled, telling me how happy billie would be when she sees me which made me blush.

i also gave patrick a hug and he smiled too, wrapping his arms around my waist. "i've missed you all so much."

"we missed you more. billie's definitely missed you the most though." maggie said, exposing billie which made me laugh.

"so what's the plan? how are you surprising her?" patrick asked.

"well i was thinking of going on stage during i love you and standing behind the bed and just waiting for her to notice me." i explained, earning smiles and pouts from everyone.

"that sounds perfect. she's gonna be so happy to see you." claudia said.

it was time for billie and finneas to perform and i was currently hiding behind the curtains where billie couldn't see me but i could still see her performance.

finneas and andrew walked on stage and the crowd immediately erupted into screams and shouts. the crowd couldn't contain themselves when billie walked on stage.

maggie came to stand next to me as we both watched billie perform bad guy, her tiny body jumping around with such happiness. i knew touring was her happy place, she loved doing the shows and meeting her beautiful fans.

i danced along with her behind the curtains while maggie filmed me, posting a few on her story. it got to 'i love you' and it was finally my turn to come out and surprise her.

while the bed was coming down, the security guard that tied billie and finneas to the bed so they were safe, nodded his head for me to come near him.

the crowd spotted me but i immediately put my finger to my lips and they turned their focus back onto billie who was talking to the crowd, thanking them for coming out.

i crouched behind the bed and waited for billie and finneas to take their places. finneas caught my eye and gave me a subtle wink which made me smirk slightly. billie had no clue and she didn't even look behind her, sitting on the bed and continuing her speech to the fans.

pretty much all of the crowd had spotted me and luckily, no one had screamed. they had all respected my wishes of them being silent and stared at billie.

the start of 'i love you' played as finneas strummed his guitar and billie started singing the first few lyrics. i put both of my arms on the bed behind them, waiting for billie to turn around.

you didn't mean to say...

"...i love you." i whispered in billie's ear as she sang the words. she immediately turned around, her whole head spinning as she looked at me.

i seen her eyes water with tears and her hand smacked over her mouth in pure shock. i pouted and opened my arms out wide for her. billie scrambled off the bed and fell into my arms, sobbing into my shirt.

i held the back of her head as she buried her face into my neck, tears falling from her eyes. while all this was happening, the crowd was going absolutely ballistic, screaming and cheering. finneas was sat on the bed with the biggest smile on his face and maggie was filming us with a huge smile on her face too.

billie finally let go of me and stared at my face, placing both of her hands on either side. she then leaned in and her lips pressed against mine, the feeling we had both missed so bad. the crowd went even crazier, screaming even louder than before.

we pulled away and billie smiled, a few tears falling from her eyes. "how did you get here?"

"your whole family helped and booked me a flight to come here and surprise you." i told her, the crowd falling silent as they listened to our words.

"i love you with everything in me." billie told me which earned screams from the fans.

once they had quietened down again, i replied, "i love you way more."

billie kissed my lips once more before sitting back down onto the bed, grabbing me and sitting me down in front of her. she had both of her legs open wide and i was sat in the space in between. she wrapped both of her arms around my neck, peppering a few kisses on my neck while finneas strummed the first few cords of 'i love you' again.

this was happiness right here.
