You rushed to class, your maroon trimmed robes floating behind you.
You were running late, you just hoped Pansy didn't take your usually seat next to Draco. It was frustrating having her always push her way between you guys.
You and Draco were just starting to get close and Pansy was making it impossible for you two to actually have a decent conversation.
You silently slipped into the room and mouthed an apology to the professor. You looked towards Draco who's attention was already on you. You grinned and gave him a little wave. His attention quickly turned back to Snape as his lips twitched fighting a smile. Your eyes then shifted to your seat, where a scowling Pansy was currently sitting. You didn't let that bother you, you smiled at her too, taking the sit behind Draco next to Longbottom.
When Snape was done giving instructions the classes were supposed to break into groups. You did something most would never dare to, and tickled Draco's ear with the feather of your quill. He twitched a little before turning resting his arm on the back of his chair and raising an eyebrow at you. A perfectly practiced annoyed look on his face.
"Hey Malfoy could you help me out? Not because I think your better or anything."
Draco huffed,
"Maybe if you'd show up for class on time (l/n). You would know the instructions and wouldn't need help." He said coldly, but his expression was too warm for you to be intimidated by. You just smiled as he turned his chair around.
"So you think I'm smart?" He snorted pulling his books from his desk to yours, ignoring Pansy's pleads for him to group up the her and Crabbe.
"When did I ever say that? He looked at you sternly.
"You said I'd be perfectly capable of doing it on my own." You shrugged opening your book, then helped Neville find the right page.
Draco laughed which made your head snap back into his direction. He covered his mouth, resting his chin in his palm and leaning his elbow on the table.
"Capable? In potions? That is something you're definitely not, (l/n)...maybe herbology like Longbottom over there."
You glanced between the two. Neville and Draco seemed just as surprised. That was the closest thing to a compliment he had ever given to Neville.
Which couldn't fly obviously,
"Not that it's any use to a good wizard." Neville didn't look too disheartened though.
Why must he always do that. You thought struggling to wrap your mind around the complex boy, who was now not far from a man, in front of you. You decided to push more.
"Well somebody must grow and collect the ingredients for your potions."
Without looking up from the page he muttered through his hands.
"I didn't say you were useless." He then looked up at you through his thick eyelashes before his eyes darted back to the book.
"Speaking of useless, Longbottom, go get the ingredients." He barked.
You wrinkled your nose at him before turning to face Neville.
"Would you please, Neville." You smiled at him.
"Y-yeah of course." He stumbled over his seat as he got up and went to the shelf.
"You know you don't have to do that you know."
"Do what?" He asked without looking at you.
You stared at the top of his neatly combed head.
"Be mean to people, you can get further by just, well being nice." He looked up at you then, eyebrows furrowed.
"(L/n), you think I'm mean?"
"Isn't that what you want people to think?" You accused. You could see him visibly tense, his lips drawn tight.
"How...do you see me?"
You looked at him moment. Sitting tall, so serious, back straight shoulder back. His hair geld and shirt pressed.
You leaned across the table and ran your fingers through his hair breaking the cast of gel, then ruffled it. It came loose and tumbled down slightly in his eyes and over his ears. You ran your fingers through it one more time before sitting back.
"Soft." You said smiling.
Draco sat mouth slightly a gape and blinked a few times. Before closing his eyes and running his own hands through his hair, pushing it back out of his face.
It looked better like that you thought.
Just then Neville came back and you all got started on the potion, being the only group to do it properly. The only group with Gryffindor and a Slytherin.

A/N: hey guys hope you enjoyed! Feels good to be back in the swing. I was thinking about making this a full book! Let me know what you think.
As always,

Stay Smexy!
