Crazy? Yes.
Impossible? Definitely.
Hopeless? Yep.
Was I going to attempt it? Hell yes.
Lia and I had spent ages perfecting the portal, figuring out the coordinates to where I wanted to go from my visions (thank you, maps), and making sure my parents didn't know what I was doing, the portal was perfect.
Lia, Skylar, and I were standing in front of the machine that would take me to my destination. It looked like a box suitcase with a lot of wires, buttons, and levers, but it had the capacity to help someone leave Amyonia - a rule that was never broken unless someone wanted disaster. On the top of the machine was a hexagon-shaped slot.
"What is it?" asked Skylar.
Lia sighed. "Do you need me to explain it again?"
"We've explained it about twenty times," I laughed.
"You know I can never pay attention!" protested Skylar.
"Do you want to explain again?" I turned to Lia.
Lia's real name was Amelia, but everyone called her Lia unless they hated her. She had calm brown eyes that were almost amber, with dark skin and hair as black as coal. She was always very cool, and my best friend. She was extremely smart, and always kept her cool.
"Alright." Lia turned to Skylar. "So it's a machine that will make a portal using the magic of our amulets, to put it in a simple way."
"Why didn't you say that earlier?" Skylar grinned. "That's a lot easier to understand!"
Skylar had messy blonde hair in a pixie cut. Her face was narrowed and serious - which was nothing like her personality - and she had playful green eyes that were always bouncing from place to place.
It was painful to look at Skylar's eyes sometimes. They reminded me of someone else's eyes... Someone I'd lost...
Stop thinking of her, Carrisa, I scolded myself. Keep on trudging forwards.
I focused on Lia. She looked at me.
"Are you ready?"
"I'm ready." I nodded.
"I'M READY!" Skylar shouted suddenly.
I looked at Skylar quizzically. "Do you even know what we're doing?"
"Nope!" She grinned. "What are we doing?"
I sighed. "One of us is using the portal to get out of Amyonia to go... somewhere else."
"Where?"
I took a deep breath. As soon as I said it, it would become real. I mean, it was already mostly real, but in my head I'd been imagining it as a wild fantasy. Now...
"Ohhhhh." Skylar's eyes widened. "You're going to the kingdom of Corona!"
I looked down. "Yeah..."
"Wait, isn't this the year their destinies happen? Are you messing with destiny?!"
"No, no, no!" I held up my hands. "I've got an idea how I can meet V- one of them, and not mess with their destiny."
"How is that possible?" asked Skylar.
Lia grinned. "Varian. He's in prison, but we never see it. So technically, Carissa can interact with Varian's destiny."
"But isn't Varian meant to be in so he can meet the Separatists of Saporia so all the events when Rapunzel returns can happen?"
"Yes," I said. "But I've got a plan."
