Chapter Twenty Four

Jimmy had been wanting to do a video for a while where he had every dog in a shelter adopted out or homed in some way. Before you came around he even tried setting up his own makeshift animal shelter but legally you're unable to do something of that sort. Jimmy got help from a local animal shelter to pull the video off. He also purchased advertisements for the shelter to make sure the dogs would get adopted. There were billboards, trucks, and flyers. Chandler was so excited to spend the day with the dogs. He loved dogs and on this day he would be helping them find their forever homes.

You finished setting up cameras around the shelter and went to film a few bits. Chandler was favoring one of the dogs in particular. A tan and brown short haired puppy named Jive. He was resting him against his shoulder with the biggest smile across his face. Chandler looked so happy.

As the dogs got adopted out, Jimmy would hand out gift cards and dog supplies to the owners. The adoption fees were already taken care of as well. Chandler put on a dog costume to stand outside and hold a sign. Karl was holding him by a leash. You could see them running around outside instead of advertising.

"I'm the cutest dog in here," Chandler came inside.

"Definitely," You laughed, going up to give him a quick peck on the lips.

More dogs were adopted until there was one left. Tyler ended up adopting one of the dogs. Jimmy and Maddy even adopted one as well. You saw how attached Chandler had grown to Jive in such a short period of time. Jive was the first one he went to every time he went in the shelter. Chandler always asked if anyone was looking at him too. If he left the shelter and came back, he checked to see if Jive was the one who got adopted. You went ahead and made the decision to adopt Jive for the both of you.

You went to the part of the shelter where all the dogs were housed. Chandler was next to Jive's cage, hyping him up.

"Is Jive ready to go home?" You smiled, walking over to them.

"He got adopted?" Chandler sounded excited but sad at the same time.

You nodded.

"We get to take him home with us," You said.

"Wait, he's ours?" He seemed confused at first. "Like our dog?"

"He's our dog," You confirmed.

Chandler hugged you almost immediately. He then took Jive out of the cage he was in and held him on his chest. He looked so happy. Even Jive's tail was wagging.

"Welcome to the family little guy," Chandler smiled.
