Chapter ・Four

He pressed on the name and the phone started ringing. "Hey Kenma." The voice on the other end was raspy and sounded like they had just woken up, "Kuroo- I have something to tell you." He said, "Oh, what's up?" Kenma then began talking about what had happened earlier that day.

"So your saying that you found Chibi-chan!?" Kuroo shouted from the other end making Kenma flinch, "Yes, Kuroo." He said, "And he's in the hospital?" Kuroo said as his voice toned down a bit, Kenma responded with another yes but heard nothing from the other end.

"Kuroo?" You could hear a faint shuffling sound and a grunt, "Sorry, I've been laying in bed the whole time, uh- are you going back to visit him?" Kuroo said, "Yeah, I have to go back tomorrow anyways for my mum." Kenma replied, "Could I tag along?" Kuroo asked, "I guess you can if you really want too." Kenma said as he sat up.

"Alright, see you tomorrow at your place?" Kuroo said, "Sure, see you." Kenma heard a bye come from his friend and and then hung up, he flopped back down into his lying position on the bed and only a few minutes later- he was knocked out cold with his phone still in his hand.

Hours passed and a few loud knocks startled Kenma awake, he seemed dazed but it only took a few seconds for him to realise a few things- one of them being that Kuroo had arrived at his place and that his phone had fallen off the side of his bed.

Kenma sluggishly got up from his sleeping position and stood up, the knocks got louder which made the boy grunt in annoyance. Kenma walked out of his bedroom now making his way to the front door, as he unlocked it and opened the door, there stood Kuroo who was about to knock again.

"Keep knocking like that and my neighbours will hear, come in." Kenma said moving out of the way for Kuroo, "Did you just wake up or something?" Kuroo asked as he looked down at the other, Kenma replied with a hum and ventured back into his bedroom.

Kuroo stood there waiting but something triggered him- all the blinds were closed making the small apartment dark, Kuroo then walked up to each window that was covered and pulled the blinds making them rise up, letting the light shine in.

Kenma walked back out of his room looking more refreshed and had his phone in his right hand, "So are we heading out now or do you want to get something to eat?" Kuroo said, Kenma stood there as he squinted his eyes from the light, "I don't feel like eating so we can go unless you're hungry." Kenma replied, "I'm good, let's go." The two then walked out of Kenma's apartment with Kenma closing and locking the door.

"So which hospital is your mum in?" Kuroo asked, "I forgot the name but I know where it is." Kuroo let out an annoyed sigh, "And Chibi-chan is there too?" He said raising a brow, "Mmh, yeah, we bumped into each other, I think I saw his sister too but it seemed that she didn't stick around for long since I hadn't seen her for the rest of the time I was there." Kenma said.

The two were now walking along the footpath which was making Kenma have a déjà vu as he was just there the day before, "Are we going to tell the others?" Kuroo said, "About what?" Kuroo gave him that 'really' face and continued, "Are we telling the others about Chibi-chan?" He repeated, "It's depends, Shoyo said that he'd love to see everyone again but was scared of getting rejected because he left without saying anything." Kenma said.

"But I told him that none of us would be angry at him-" Kenma was then cut off, "Because we all miss him." Kuroo said quickly which left Kenma to continue, "Yes, but I think we should take it slow before telling the others... he's not the same anymore." Kenma's expression saddened which confused Kuroo.

"Why is he in the hospital anyways?" Kenma look at his friend but shook his head, "You can ask him that, I don't think he'd want me to actually say anything." Kuroo let out a dry chuckle, "Understandable, you two seem to have gotten close as before." Kenma hummed in response.

After a long walk, the two were finally in the hospital and had already checked in with the front desk, they were off to see Kenma's mother first and then Hinata.

"I'll stay out here." Kuroo said leaning against the wall, Kenma nodded and opened the door to his mother's room. After a while, Kenma came back out smiling as he waved his mother goodbye, Kuroo looked up from his phone and followed Kenma as the two we're now one their way to Hinata's room.

"Why is his room so far?" Kuroo said, Kenma let out an annoyed sigh as he remembered what happened at the front desk- apparently Hinata had to move rooms which was further away from his old one and now Kuroo was whining on how far it was.

After a minute or so, the two finally got to Hinata's room and Kenma knocked on the door, "Come in!" The immediate response didn't surprise the two but before Kenma opened the door, he looked at Kuroo, "Just wait out here for a sec, I didn't tell him that you were coming." Kuroo nodded as he then watched Kenma leave into the room.
