As the two sat on the bed in silence, Kenma then gathered up the courage and pulled the ginger into a hug, the both thought of the hug as warm and comforting, Hinata felt like he was safe and he wanted to cry, Kenma felt pity and guilt for his old friend but he knew well enough that Hinata hated those two things.
The hug lasted long and the silence that filled the room was comfortable.
Hinata was the first to pull away and looked Kenma in the eyes, Hinata stared into the golden orbs while Kenma stared into his honey brown eyes but the more Kenma paid attention to Hinata's face- there were heavy eye bags and he seemed to be more pale.
"How would you feel if you meet the other again?" Kenma said as he turned his head back towards to window, Hinata's body went stiff which was noticeable to Kenma, "You don't have to if you don't, it was just another question... sorry for asking so many questions." Kenma said as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I'd love to see everyone again... but- what if they don't like me anymore? Wouldn't you guys be angry that I just left?" Hinata said, there was obvious nervousness in his voice, "Shoyo, everyone misses you, we actually still talk about you even today." Hinata smiled, but it wasn't the one back in high school, it was another sad smile.
"Even so, they're going to question me..." Hinata said quietly, Kenma looked at him from the side- 'god, he's so beautiful.' Kenma thought taking his attention away from the ginger, "If I were you, I'd answer truthfully but if there's a question I'm not comfortable with, then I'd lie." He said, Hinata nodded in agreement.
"But wouldn't everyone be busy with their lives?" Hinata asked, "Mmh, not really, we work low jobs and non of us even have families, well, not yet at least." Kenma said, "Not yet?" Kenma looked at Hinata and chuckled, "Bokuto and Akaashi are currently engaged." Kenma said, Hinata's eyes widened even though he wasn't as surprised.
"Engaged? I thought that they'd be married by now." Hinata said to which both of them laughed lightly, "Yeah, everyone thought that but there were some problems involving Akaashi's family." Hinata sat there processing what he meant but soon understood.
"His parents are homophobic, there was a huge fight between his parents with Bokuto included." Kenma let out an annoyed sigh and continued, "They were never fond of Bokuto, they hated him from the very beginning and once they found out their son was actually going to get married to him, the freaked." He said.
Hinata sat there as he continued to listen to Kenma's rants.
A few hours passed and the sky was now a vivid pink with a tint of orange, the sun was setting and the moon was soon to be rising. The two talked for hours, it was mostly Kenma as there was so much for him to talk about, Hinata now knew that not only were Bokuto and Akaashi were engaged but also Oikawa and Iwaizumi.
Kenma fished his phone from his pocket and looked at the time- his mother's operation should've been done an hour ago, "What's wrong?" Hinata asked as he looked at his friend, "It's getting late and I need to go home, but I also have to see if my mum is okay." Kenma said getting up from the bed.
"Oh, okay!" The was a hint of disappointment in his voice, "I'll visit tomorrow, Shoyo, maybe then we could see if you could come with me?" Kenma said, he watched as Hinata's face grew excited, "Mhm! See you tomorrow Kenma!" He said waving, "See you, Shoyo." Kenma walked out of the room closing the door behind him.
"I'm glad that we could meet again." Kenma said under his breath as a smile appeared on his face, he then walked down the previous hall from before, after some time, he finally across his mother's room- he hoped that she was actually in there otherwise it would've been embarrassing for him.
He knocked on the door and there was an immediate response, "Come in!" The voice said, Kenma opened the door and saw a doctor write in a sheet of paper with his mother fast asleep in the hospital bed, "Oh, hello! You must be Kenma-san's son?" The doctor said. "Yes sir." Kenma replied plainly, "Alright, everything went well and your mother is all good, since it's already so late, would you like to come back tomorrow for further details?" The doctor asked.
Kenma nodded with small 'yes' escaping past his lips, "Alright, have a good night sir." The doctor said, "You too." Kenma spared a quick gland at his mother who was definitely in a deep sleep and turned around to walk out of the room.
By now, Kenma was far from the hospital in his small apartment now laying on his bed, he decided to ask Hinata for his phone number tomorrow to stay in contact better. Kenma reached to his side table picking up his phone and scrolled through his contacts.
He pressed on the name and the phone started ringing. "Hey Kenma." The voice on the other end was raspy and sounded like they had just woken up, "Kuroo- I have something to tell you."
