"-Eren! Eren! Hey! Are you still there?"
"...mmh?" Eren mumbled.
You had your eyes furrowed as you stopped walking then turned to the brunette. "I've been saying that you should handle the herbs carefully. Look!-You're squishing them already!"
Eren turned to look at his left hand. Sure enough the Chamomile had already been squished for it already looks like a pulp. "Oh,...uh..I'm sorry. Should we go back?" He asked, gesturing for us to go back to the forest to retrieve the fallen plants.
You tried to smile to hide your tiredness but were not able to based on your companion's eyes that glinted a bit of worry to you. "Nah, it's fine. It's already sunset and I don't want Marie to go all questioning me why I was late during playtime. Besides, we could go next week."
Eren placed the squished herb (some of it was saved though!) into the full basket in his right hand then transferred the basket to his left hand. Turning to her, he asked, "Who's Marie? Another patient of yours?"
You fixed your sunhat as you gazed to the sky and then started walking again. Eren stood by you walking as he waited for your reply. "Yeah. It's another one. She had these really rough coughs and her mother and I are worried that it's Pneumonia. And that, her mother told me she was lonely so I figured, why not play with her?"
"..Oh,"
"Mhm."
A comfortable silence surrounded you two as you both ventured back to the headquarters. No one said anything as the both of you walked side by side.
"Hey, Jaeger boy, thanks for coming with me to pick these herbs. Even though you did crush some." You stiffed a chuckle as you spared Eren a glance. "I really appreciate it."
"...No problem." Eren replied, turning his straw hat around his head feeling a bit flustered. "Next week again, I'll join. I did crush those herbs of yours, I'm sorry again."
"I said it's fine, Eren. And we'll see about that."
"Huh? Does that mean you won't go next week?"
"I'm not quite sure with my schedule and yours. Maybe, maybe not." She shrugged.
"Well, in that case, just..." Suddenly feeling bashful, Eren continued, ".. write me a letter a day before you will go out and get these...yeah?"
Eren forced his eyes away from your face as he walked a bit faster, the bashfulness now going further and noticeable on his face. You let out a chuckle. He still got some of his old habits within him, really. Then, you grabbed his shoulder then pressed your lips closer to his reddening ear, ".....OKAY!"
