Chapter one

Life just gets tougher by the minute. The way we handle our situations depends how we view it. I clip my hair up and inhale lifting my chin proudly. Last day in court luckily. This is my first case and I'm defending a mother that's trying to fight for her children. I don't know how I'll be one day as a mother, but while I'm not, I like to imagine it. Let's just hope today will go right. I'm wearing a tight skirt and a white shirt. Gosh, I feel like Margaret Thatcher.
I run out of my apartment and reach my hand out for a taxi. I'm earning almost just enough for an apartment and food on the table. I can't afford a car now.

It's settled. Well, not in my favour, but in everyone's. Like usually, one of the parents gets to keep the children and the other one only gets visiting right. I'd honestly hate it if I get divorced one day. My parents taught me so much about marriage, but will it be enough?

I grab my phone when it began to rang. It's my baby brother. Well, he's not really a baby, he's just my younger brother.

"Hello?" I answer walking in the shop to buy food.

"Meryl, how are you?" he ask. I chuckle softly and look around.

"Very well and you?"
My attention is drawn by a woman that stood there laughing with a man. Probably just got married. When will I ever meet the right one?

"I'm great. Listen, can I bring a friend over tomorrow? He wants to sue someone for an accident or something like that," Third mutter. I bite my lip. Never let expectations ruin your vision of how you see love. No, they might be kissing and teasing now, but how violent will they be when they fight? "Meryl? Are you there."

"Y-y-yes," I grab my front head and laugh softly. "My attention was stolen for a while."

"So I shall see you tomorrow then?"

"Yes," I reply and take the phone away from my ear with a little smile. I put it away and give a heavy sighed. Maybe I'm just lonely. Well, with my work, I can't loose focus now. I have to stay committed to my work. When the time is right, I will meet the right one.
