Woops, you're not Michael . . .

---------------------------------------

"Debby downer, have some breakfast." My mum says as I walk into the kitchen.

"I'm not sad, mum."

"So, I'm actually upside down and that frown is a smile?"

"No." I say, sitting down at the table.

"Then what's wrong?" My mum asks setting down a plate of toasties in front of me.

"Nothing at all." I say, taking one as the bell rings.

"I'll get it." Mali Koa says, skipping out of the kitchen. I hear the front door open and Mali say, "Oh, it's you."

Luke comes barging into the kitchen, stealing a piece of my toastie.

"Why does my bff look sad?" He asks, sitting down next to me.

"I'm not sad! That's just how my face is." I argue, getting up to put on my shoes. Luke follows me all the way to my room.

I search my closet, then under my bed before finding my black converse, and putting them on.

Luke stands in the door frame, playing with his bookbag straps.

I quickly throw on a dark blue Jack Wills hoodie before picking up my bookbag and swinging it over my shoulders. I say a quick Bye before leaving my house with Luke. Luke pockets his cellular device once we start walking to school.

"It's a lovely day, let the sun come out and play, and do photosynthesis on flow - ers." Luke sings, turning around in circles all jolly-like as we walk.

"Luke please--"

"WHAT A LOVELY DAY. CALUM DOESN'T RHYME WITH EGGS. SOMETHING SOMETHING SOMETHING, HEY ASH - TON."

"Why so loud in the morning, Lukey boy?" Ashton asks, strolling by our side.

"Because he's Luke, explanation over." I say, seeing our school in the distance.

"Not because I'm Luke," Luke says. "Because I'm HAPPY LUKE!"

"JC, please control this kid." Alex says, appearing out of nowhere. We cross the street together before Alex departs towards the bagel shop, complaining about not having breakfast yet and how he needs a balanced meal to start the day.

Yeah, I wouldn't blame ya. I rolled my eyes too.

"Calum, did you do Mr. Morris' homework?" Luke asks me as we walk into the building.

"Yeah,"

"Can I plagiarize your answers to my worksheet?"

I laugh. "Such an ugly word, and illegal. But, yeah. I'll give it to you at lunch?"

"Can't. I'm hanging out with Lisa."

"Alright, but don't lose it." I say, taking off my bookbag and handing Luke the paper.

"Thanks, boi."

I ditch my friends and head to my locker. I needed to get my Latin stuff now because gym is on the other side of the school and I have Latin right after. Mrs. Devór is a bit bitchy when you're late. She's cool, though. I know a bit of the language.

Calum sum leatus puer ápud Michael.

I'm pretty sure that's how it goes . . .

I put in my combination and take out Ecce Romani I and my Latin folder along with my binder for science.
