Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight

Cole walked into the medical room to check on AJ and his mate and was shocked when he walked into the room and found AJ lying unconscious on the ground.

He ran over to his brother, knelt down beside him, and started to shake his body

“AJ!” He shook him harder when he didn’t get any response. “AJ! Dam it what’s wrong with you?” he said sounding panicky.

AJ groaned and rolled over “Man I feel hung over” He mumbled as he started to sit up.

“What happened man?” Cole asked looking around the room, when he noticed the empty bed where his mate should have been he looked back at his brother. “Er.. AJ where is your mate?”

AJ shot up from the ground and stumbled, he looked over at the bed his mate was in, and everything came back to him. He remembered talking to his mate and the feeling if something pinching his neck. He also vaguely remembered the pain he felt when she left him lying there on the floor.

He felt betrayed that she would do something like that to him, but he wasn’t going to let what she had done to him stop him from being with her. He would find her and convince her that she needed to be with him.

He rubbed the back of his neck and realised why he had felt the pinch at the back of his neck.

“She drugged me!” He said disbelief could be heard in his voice.

“Who drugged you?” Cole asked confused

“My mate!” AJ shouted, he started marching towards the door, “I can’t believe she would do that!” He opened the door with such force that when it slammed against the wall it left a gaping hole.

AJ wasted no time running for the front door and getting outside.

As soon as he was out in the open he sniffed the air and made a frustrated noise, he wouldn’t be able to track her. To him she smelt like the woods.

He turned around and looked at Cole “Can you smell her anywhere?” he asked

Cole frowned at him but did what he asked and sniffed the air, shaking his head “She must have been gone for a while”

AJ scrubbed his face with the palm of his hands, feeling frustrated. He looked at Cole “Where’s dad?” He asked him

“Office” Cole said nodding his head at the direction of the house.

“Why would your mate drug you?” Cole asked

AJ sighed. “I would say she was worried that I wouldn’t let her leave, she wanted to leave when she first woke and I argued with her about it.” AJ explained as he walked back into the house.

“She also said that we were in danger of hunters” AJ looked at Cole “Have you ever heard of them before?”

Cole shook his head “No what are they?” He asked

“Beats me that’s why I’m going to see dad maybe he would know.”

They walked up to the father’s office door and Cole reached for the door handle and was going to open it without knocking. AJ quickly grabbed his hand “Trust me when I say you never want to barge in there again”

Cole frowned at AJ and waited for him to explain when he didn’t he sighed “Fine” Cole lifted his hand and knocked on the door.

“Enter.” They heard their farther call.

Both boys walked into the office “My mates gone” Was the first thing AJ said to him

Aaron frowned “Gone where?”

AJ shrugged “I don’t know, she drugged me and left”

“Drugged you?” Aaron asked “How did she drug you, we had searched her when she got here”

AJ growled when he heard that but didn’t say anything “I think she found a syringe full of something on the cabinet in the medical room”

“Do you have any idea where she would have gone?” Aaron asked

AJ shook his head

“Well the guards haven’t found any trace of her they would have informed me if they had.”

“What do you know about hunters?” Cole asked butting into their conversation.

“Hunters?” Aaron asked looking at Cole

“Yes hunters, Rose said that we were in danger of hunters, that they are to be feared more than rouges” AJ said

Cole snorted. “I find that hard to believe, how could they be worse the rouges?” He asked

Aaron sat forward in his chair “I have never heard of hunters before, maybe I should give the other packs a call and see if they know anything about them.” He said as he reached for the phone

AJ and Cole stood there quietly and waited for their father to make his calls.

After Aaron had hung up the phone, he sat back in his chair and rubbed his face with his hands.

“So, what did the other Alpha’s have to say?” AJ asked when his father didn’t say anything.

Aaron blew out a breath “Not much, just that there is something or someone out there killing of packs.”

“WHAT!” Cole shouted. “Why haven’t we heard about this before?” he asked

Aaron held up his hand stopping Cole “There has been two packs taken out, they were only small in size so the packs who had discovered them thought it had been rouges.”

“What made them change their minds?” AJ

“They found a couple of the dead pack member’s bodies. They didn’t show any signs of being attacked by a wolf.”

“Then how did they die?” Cole asked

“They had been shot” Aaron said grimly.

“What does that mean? Were the running in the woods in wolf form and humans thought they were normal wolves and shot them?” AJ asked

Aaron shook his head, “The pack members that were found were found in their homes with gunshot wounds to the face and chest”

Cole sucked in a breath “They were killed in human form?” He asked his father

“That’s what I was told” Aaron said nodding.

“Does that mean it’s humans who are these so called hunters? Werewolves wouldn’t use guns to kill off other werewolves.” AJ said.

Aaron shrugged “They don’t know yet, but I think we need to keep our eyes on the lookout for any humans acting strange. I’m going to increase the number of men on patrols.”

“I have to find Rose.” AJ said

Aaron shook his head “I understand that she is your mate and you want to make sure she is safe, but she obviously doesn’t want to be found right now.” Aaron told him “Just give her some time I’m sure you will see her again. Her wolf won’t like being away from you.”

AJ sighed not liking the idea of not looking for his mate, but his dad was right and he didn’t want to scare her away more buy tracking her down. He will just have to wait til she is ready to come back to him.

“I’m going to have to do some searching and see what else I can find out about these hunters.” Aaron said.

“Is there anything we can do to help?” AJ asked his father.

“Yeah, be careful.” Aaron said looking at both his sons. “It would kill me and your mother if anything were to happen to either of you.”

“We will” Both AJ and Cole, said at the same time.

“Good now you boys need to get to bed, you have school in the morning.” Aaron told them.

Both boys groaned but did as they were told and left Aaron's office and made their way to their rooms.
