AJ and Rose were sitting on the sofa watching cartoons with Danny when AJ heard a commotion from the direction of the front door. He looked over at Rose who seemed just as focused on the TV as her younger brother.“I will be back in a minute, I just want to check out what’s going on.”

Rose turned her her head reluctantly, looked at him and smiled “Ok”

AJ smiled back at her and placed a soft kiss in her cheek before he got up from his seat and made his way to the front door where his mother and father were already standing.

“Mum, Dad” AJ heard his father say before he hugged AJ’s grandparents.

“What happened?” Hayden, Aaron’s father asked.

AJ watched as his dad pulled back from hugging his grandmother. “It appears we have hunters, we think they are slowly trying to take us out one by one. They are hiding in our woods" Aaron sighed "Nana must have wanted to go for a walk and they shot her”

“Hunters?” Lucy asked

Aaron nodded his head “Yes hunters, we only found out about them through AJ's mate”

“AJ found his mate!”his grandmother said.

She looked over at him “Oh AJ congratulations” Lucy said as she walked over and hugged her grandson.

“Thanks Gran” AJ said.

“Well Son let’s go discuss these hunters in your office, we can let everyone else catch up” Hayden said to Aaron.

Aaron nodded his head and lead his father out of the room, too his office.

“How is Hayden dealing with his mother’s death?” Chloe asked Lucy

“He took it pretty bad. He almost lost control to his wolf when he first heard about her death" Lucy said sadly"He is putting on a brave face, but he knows we will find those responsible and make them pay.”

“I Just wish they hadn’t killed her,this place won’t be the same without her” Chloe said softly. Lucy patted her on the shoulder. “She will be missed greatly by everyone. She was an amazing woman who has helped many people.”

Chloe nodded her head "Me included" She said softly, most likely remembering the times that Mrs B had patched her up after Chloe's father had abused her.

Lucy looked at AJ her sad face transforming into a smile “Well where is she?”

AJ nodded his head in the direction of the lounge room “She’s watching TV with her little brother.”

Lucy beamed at him and walked off to meet his mate. AJ looked back at his mother “Where is Cole? He should have been home from school by now."

He watched as a frown appeared on her face “I don’t know” He could see the panic appear in her eyes.

“Don’t worry I’m sure his fine, why don’t you see if you can mind link with him.” He suggested.

Chloe nodded her head at AJ and he watched as her eyes went glasses as she tried to mind link with him. A few seconds later, she looked at him with a relieved expression “He is almost home.” She told him.

AJ nodded his head “Better go check on my mate and Gran” He said as he made his way out of the room.

Chloe chuckled behind him “Yes you better, you know what your gran is like when it comes to you boys and embarrassing you by telling stories from when you were kids”

AJ groaned and picked up his pace. He walked into the lounge room to find his mate and Gran sitting on the lounge talking, Lucy turned and looked at her grandson “Oh AJ she is just lovely”
