Chapter 10
I began with the dusting. 'Never again' I thought to myself. When I was done about an hour later, I swept and vacuumed. Then I mopped and ate a turkey and cheese sandwich. I was just finishing mopping the upstairs bathroom, when I felt Kale's arms wrap around me. I jumped and screamed a little until I figured out who it was. I calmed down a little and spun around in his arms to face him. "Don't scare me like that!" I smacked his chest playfully. He smiled and said,"I couldn't find a good wedding ring out there that a screamed Sam." I said,"It's ok, I didn't get to start dinner." He laughed and said,"Wanna order pizza." I nodded and walked downstairs into the living room to plop down on the couch. I watched him pick up the phone and he dialed the number. I turned on the tv, and saw my mom and the headline 'Found dead in ditch'. My hand flew to my mouth to hold back the sob that almost escaped my lips. The ditch where they found her was only up the road. Kale hung up and said,"What's wrong?" I looked at him and cried out,"My mom was found dead in a ditch up the road." He looked worried. "Really?" I showed him on the news and he hugged me. "We have to leave sooner than expected then. She may be dead, but I'm still wanting away from it." I nodded and groaned. "What's wrong?" I frowned and said,"I did all that cleaning for nothing." He smiled and said,"It looks amazing." We went up stairs and packed everything. "We're going to a beach house." I smiled and said,"Do we get to fly again?" He shook his head,"No it's not to far, in a days drive. We're leaving in the morning." We got into pajamas and went to sleep on the couch. We woke up and got dressed. We didn't speak much, but we finally did make conversation. It was mostly questions about my childhood. "What was your childhood like?" I frowned at the memory,"My dad left when I was young, I know now it was for his mate. My mom wouldn't let me contact him, yet all she did was abuse me." He growled and I grabbed his hand. "It wasn't that bad at first. Until one day her and a couple of friends came home drunk. She was never drunk when she beat me, let alone let others do it. They tackled me,and tied me up." I shivered at the memory, but I continued."They beat me, just simple punches and kicks. That was until one dragged me into the kitchen. She got a knife and cut me several times and the another one dragged me upstairs and pushed me back down." He was shaking and growling so bad I pulled us over to the side of the empty road, and jumped into his lap. I wrapped my arms around him and snuggled into his chest. When his breathing was normal, I said,"I'm sorry, I didn't know that you would get that upset." He smiled and said,"Its cool, but how did you know you could calm me down like that?" I shrugged and said,"You've cheered me up like that." He nodded and said,"As much as I like this position, we need to keep going so we can get there by night fall." I blushed when I looked down to see I was straddling him. I hopped over in my seat, and he pinched my butt. "Ow!" I smacked his arm playfully. He just gave me this boyish smile and started to drive. We stopped by McDonald's and we both got the new onion bacon cheddar burger with sweet tea. We finished it after a while and finally made it to where we were staying. It was this huge beach house, it was this really pretty blue. We got inside and I found out there was a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a dining area on the first floor. The second floor had three bedrooms, three bathrooms, walk in closets, and another kitchen. "Pick out our room, while I get our stuff." He kissed my cheek and walked away. I went into the first room and frowned. It had enough stuff, just to white. I walked down the hall to the second one. It was perfect. I ran in and fell on the fluffy bed. I rolled over on my back to wait on Kale so I shut my eyes. I squealed as I felt Kale jump on top of me and started tickling my sides. "Stop p- please s-stop! I c-can't bre-eathe!" He finally stopped and lent down and kissed my forehead. "Go get ready for our date tonight, nothing to fancy. It's private and outside." I nodded and jumped into the shower. After showering and combing my hair, I decided on shorts, an off the shoulder black shirt that said 'kiss' with pink lips, and some netted leggings with my converse. I smiled at myself in the mirror and was about to go find Kale, when I saw a sticky note on the mirror. I picked it up and read,"My beautiful mate, follow the clues the note gives you. You will find the next one where we will sleep. Love you." I rolled my eyes,"To easy." I walked over to the headboard and picked up the next one. "Pretty easy, I suck at riddles. The next one is in the living room, good luck." I smiled and ran down the stairs. I looked everywhere then realized it was on the tv screen. I walked over and grabbed it off the flat screen. "Next one is in the kitchen, hint: they call your eyes the _______ to your soul." I thought to myself,'window'. I jogged into the kitchen and found it right away. "Now, look out the window." I looked up and gasped. Kale was standing there, holding a sign that said,"WILL YOU MARRY ME?" And a black case. I ran outside and jumped into his arms, causing him to drop the sign. I whispered,"Yes." He spun me around and kissed my face all over. "Your going to be mad at me." I looked at him confused,"Why?" He smiled and said,"I booked us a real wedding."
