Chapter 17

I woke up to Louis shaking me. "Yes Louis." He smiled and said,"Sorry to wake you, Sam, but I need help out of bed." He turned a little red for just waking me up for that. I smiled and said,"Sure kid." I sat him down on the ground and said,"Are you hungry?" He nodded and I said,"How about a grilled cheese?" He nodded and said,"My favorite!" I said,"Really? Mine too!" He laughed and ran down stairs to the kitchen. I ran after him, almost falling down the stairs. When we got there, we were out of breath. I turned the stove on and got out a pan, bread and cheese. I let the first one cook while I put Louise on the stool. I finished his and started mine when my mate came in. "Hi Alpha!" Kale smiled and said,"Hey Louis, how have you been?" He smiled and said,"Today some boys were being mean and I said something really mean too, so they beat me up a little, but Lun- I mean Sam made them stop and I apologized and they said they still wouldn't be my friend and Sam said she'd be my friend and we played on the swing and took a nap in your water bed, which is really cool." I smiled at him and kissed Kale,"How has moving in been?" He sighed,"Progress is moving slowly." I smiled and handed the grilled cheese that was supposed to be mine to him and made myself another. When I finished, I sat down in between Kale and Louis. We are our grilled cheeses in silence till I thought about my mom. She had escaped from the dungeon. I felt all the blood rush from my face. "They had never caught my mom again did they?" Kale froze up too,"I don't think they did." All of a sudden, there was a loud bang from upstairs. The movers went home for lunch, since we didn't have enough food here. Kale whispered,"Go into the garden in the back yard, I'll be there soon." I picked Louis up and snuck out the back door. I moved us and hid Louis close by. I whispered to him,"If anyone gets to me, I want you to go to Kale, don't let them get you too, ok?" He nodded, but I knew he wasn't sure of himself. "I'll be ok, just do like I told you. Just the I heard something behind me. I spun around but didn't see anyone. Just then I heard,"Look out!" from Louis and a shovel hitting the back of my head. I turned over and seen my mother with a shovel and a knife. I tried to cover my stomach and she seemed to notice. "Does my little whore have a bun in the oven? Lets see." She shanked the knife into my stomach and said,"Goodbye." I was in do much pain. I couldn't breathe. I felt little hands on my stomach with a flower. I realized they were healing flowers. He rubbed it all over everything and I healed. I started breathing better and I hugged Louis. Kale came out and he killed my mom and her helper. I told him,"Get me to the doctor, I'm ok but I don't think the kids are." He growled,"What happened?" I explained how she stabbed me and Louise managed to heal me. "But I think the babies didn't get help." We were all crying. At first we were silent the Louis said,"I'm sorry, this is all my fault. I just shouldn't have friends." I picked him up,"It's not your fault. If we didn't become friends, I would be dead right now." He looked at me with that hopeful glint in his eye,"Really?" I nodded and winced. I got a terrible pain in my stomach. I almost dropped Louis but managed to set him down carefully. "What's wrong?" Kale was flipping out, crying. "Take me to the doctor." I choked out, before I blacked out.

I caught her limp body in my arms and carried her into the back seat with Louis. He was bawling his eyes out and I was about with him, but I wasn't giving up yet. I drove over the speed limit and honked at everyone until I made it to the pack hospital. I picked Sam up and took her in. I took her straight to the main doctor, Professor Smith. After waiting in anticipation and worry, he came out and said,"I have good news and bad news." I looked at him expecting the worse. "The good news is your wife made it." Louis and I shared a smile and I squeezed the life out of him. Then I remembered there was more. "What's the bad?" He sighed and said,"I wish I could say the same for your babies. I'm so sorry." He turned down the hall and said,"I removed them, so you can go in and tell her the news." I cried for a moment then took a deep breath. Time to go tell her.

I know it's sad they didn't make it, but things will look up. Trust me I wouldn't do this if I didn't have a reason. Thank you for reading this far and I hope your liking it. ~Megan
