Harper
As me and Layla were talking, I heard two loud voices- as if they were screaming at each other- and I notced a big crowd at the end of the hall.
"Hey! What's going on?", Layla asked a freshman running away from the big crowd.
"There's this couple in a big fight!"
I glanced over back at the crowd and I saw Josh trying to push himself out. Once he got out, he quickly ran down the hallway and out the front doors of the school.
"I'll be right back.", I tell Layla and quickly run after Josh before she could reply.
Once I get outside, I immediately spot Josh heading towards his car. I run towards him and tap his shoulder.
"Bridget, leave me alone!", He yells, not knowing it was me and quickly turns around.
"Oh, hey Harper.", he says once he realizes it was me.
"Are you alright? What happened?"
"Bridget and Cam happened! That slut slept with my best friend behind my back. I can't believe it!", he exclaims in an angry tone.
"Oh, wow. I'm sorry."
"It's alright, it's not your fault. I was going to break up with her anyways.."
"Oh. Well, I better get back to Layla. See you later."
I turn around and start heading towrds the front doors.
"Hey!", I heard Josh yell.
"Yes?", I ask once I turned around.
"You wanna ditch and get a coffee with me?"
"Um..", I hesitate for a second.
"Please!", he begs.
"Okay, fine. But if we get caught, you're taking the blame!"
"Alright!", he chuckles.
When I get to his car, he suprisingly opens the door for me.
"Thanks, but I can open the door myself."
"I don't mind.", he says and gives me a cheesy grin.
He shuts my door and runs towards the drivers side. Once he gets in, he almost immediately drives out of the parking lot and towards the coffee shop.
"Woah, slow down there speed racer."
"Sorry, I just need to get out of here."
"Hey, it's okay. I understand."
"I just can't believe her. Out of all the people she could sleep with, she chooses him! Cam! My best friend!", he huffs out angrily, tightening his grip on the steering wheel causing his knuckles to turn white.
"Do you want to talk about it? You know after we get our coffee?"
"I'd like that.", he replies and turns his head to give me a small smile.
*******
We finally arrive at the local coffee shop after about a ten minute drive. Oh, The Roasted Bean. Best coffee shop in town. Everybody comes here after school. Hell, even my parents came here when they were my age. It's been here for years. Josh and I get out of the car and head towards the entrance."Hello Harper! Hello Josh!", an adorable elderly couple greets us when we walk in.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Hartfield. How are you?", Josh replies once we walk closer to the adorable couple.
"We're good.", Mrs. Hartfield answers for both herself and her husband, "What about yourself? Wait.. shouldn't you two be in school?"
"Oh um..", Josh hesitates and quickly looks over at me.
"Oh Karen. Let them be. They're teenagers. As I recall you and I ditched school every once in a while.", Mr. Hartfield tells his wife.
"Well, me and Josh are pretty hungry. So if you don't mind we're gonna go order.", I say and walk away pulling Josh along with me.
"That was close.", I say once we get far enough from the couple.
"Yeah, tell me about it. But at least it wasn't our parents. Let's go order."
