If one thing is inevitable in life, it is death. When Helen handed over her book to me to complete I didn't realize she was actually bidding me farewell.

After she dozed off during our conversation I also used that opportunity to take a nap and not long after I felt her hands gripping mine tightly I woke up immediately and she was looking really pale and almost out of breath, Helen! Helen are you okay? I screamed for the doctor and pressed their alarm frantically, I was so confused I didn't know what to do! The doctors rushed into the ward and asked me to excuse them.

I moved outside and stood by the door praying and pacing. Nancy came in right on time, she met me pacing and immediately understood what was happening. We were both confused.

Not long after the doctors came out, they gave us a sober look and one of the doctors said ' I'm really sorry but we lost her'.

Lost who? I grabbed him by his labcoat and asked what he meant by they lost her. 'She didn't make it' he told me again and this time I understood! Nancy had already created a tantrum and people were trying to console her.

Helen is gone, the strongest woman I know is gone. Heaven just gained another angel. I walked into the ward and I saw her lifeless body being handled by the nurses. I begged them to please give me a minute and I held her hands, I reminisced on our old times starting from the day she hit my car from behind till our last moment and I cried. I cried so hard the nurses had to come usher me out. I placed a last kiss on her forehead and left the room to call my parents so I could inform them about Helen's passing.

It's been 2 days since Helen's demise and I was sitting here looking at our hospital wedding pictures. She looked so weak yet she managed to smile so bright. I remembered that I came home with the book she gave to me. I opened it and I began to read.

Helen wrote everything in that book, everything about her life and her journey from how she got raped at age 9 till her cancer stage. I couldn't believe she went through all that even before we met and to add everything she went through after we met I couldn't respect her more. Nobody deserved to go through all of that especially not someone like Helen.

I completed the book by narrating how she left this sinful world and has gone to find eternal rest and I decided to publish it so many people will read and learn from it.

Helen's Funeral
Today is the day that the love of my life will be put to rest forever! Nancy hasn't gotten over the shock of Helen's death yet and she was still crying even at the cemetery.
My parents were there so was Nancy, the pastor who blessed our marriage and Helen's staffs. They all spoke about how committed she was and everybody had something positive to say about her.

We rounded up the  funeral procession and everyone left except Nancy and I. We decided to stay back and reminisce on old times before leaving.

Is it over now? Nancy asked me still in tears
No Nancy, it's not over. Helen is gone physically but she will be forever alive in our hearts. We will continue her legacy and whoever reads her story and benefits from the Helen foundation will always remember her. I said to her and she smiled.

15 years later

MIKE
'Daddy!!!' My kids screamed as they ran to welcome me from my trip. How are you my darlings? Did you miss me? I asked my kids who were beaming with smiles Elliot my first child was 6 while Helen his sister is 4. I got married 9 years after Helen's death. I almost didn't want to remarry until I met Victoria who reminded me of Helen. She read her story and she decided we should respect her wishes by naming our kids what Helen wanted. Vic also assisted in running The Helen Foundation with Nancy who was also married now and sometimes I'd think Helen came back to me in the form of Victoria.

The Helen Foundation was a very successful initiative and we also donated money to cancer patients and also Helen's book Trapped was widely accepted by the public and was a huge success.

I'm sure wherever Helen was, she would be very happy to see how things finally turned out.

THE END

Finally 💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃
The wait is over guys🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️💃💃 I'm sure a lot of people will be feeling very bad about Helen's death and all but this is just to teach us that life is not a bed of roses and sadly not everyone will have a happy ending. I want us to learn that nobody lives forever but the kind of legacy we leave behind is what will speak for us.
Helen had suffered assault from her uncle right from age 9 and she didn't let it weigh her down, her boyfriend raped her she still didn't give up, although she made mistakes along the line which is unavoidable because she's human and there's a limit to what human beings can take she eventually accepted her mistakes and was able to make an impact in her life and that of others around her.
To everyone reading this and going through one thing or the other I want you to know that you're never alone and there are people going through worse. No matter what happens to you always know that there's surely going to be light at the end of the tunnel and the only thing stopping you from moving on is 'You'.
You are who you chose to become and you can either decide to make the best out of your situation or you allow the situation to make the worst out of you.

So with all that being said 🙂 I hope we all learnt a thing or two from this story. It's been such an amazing journey with you all 😍😍
