"you cold?" hwan asks, holding up the hoodie he'd grabbed before the party.
wooyoung nods and takes it happily, hiccuping as he slides it over his head. it goes on easily, as it's way bigger than his size.
it starts sprinkling as hwan pulls out onto the road. his hand falls onto wooyoung's thigh, and the younger intertwines their fingers. wooyoung yawns and leans his head against the window.
the road is dark and quiet once they get a little ways from the party. the only noise besides the buzzing of streetlights and the rain is the radio, softly playing some old song.
wooyoung hums along with his eyes closed, fingers messing with the ring on hwan's middle finger. he twists and pulls it, though not enough to make it fall off.
"we going to the house?" he suddenly asks, eyes still closed.
"sure. i want cuddles."
wooyoung scoffs and opens his eyes to shoot hwan a judgmental expression. "m'roommate's gonna think 've gone missing." he pulls the ring off hwan's finger and pushes it back on slowly.
"just tell 'im you're staying with me," hwan replies with a sluggish laugh. he's starting to feel really drowsy, as if all those drinks are finally catching up to him.
the car sways a little, and wooyoung giggles over hwan's failed attempt at driving straight.
"hey~you forgot your seatbelt, silly," he whines, hitting their still intertwined hands against hwan's hip.
"s'okay. we're close enough."
the car quiets down again, and wooyoung notices just how hard it's started raining. he can't even see the center line and has no idea how hwan is managing.
wooyoung's head spins after staring at the road for too long, and he leans his head back, closing his eyes.
he doesn't pay any attention to hwan, who's losing his perception of the road as he drives further. he barely stops at the stop sign before haphazardly turning onto a road.
neck veins popping out, his eyes dart from the speedometer to the road, then back. has everything always been this bright? it's killing his head, and he feels like he might explode when he can't read the speedometer anymore.
wooyoung sleeps with his head dipping forward slightly, and the car fills with his light snores. his grip on hwan's hand loosened, so hwan takes his hand back and grips the steering wheel better, leaning forward to try and see the road.
he doesn't even know where he is at this point, and he's starting to get annoyed with the rain.
he doesn't even realize he's in the wrong lane until a bright pair of headlights in front of him send a searing pain through his head, and he jerks the car to the side so fast that wooyoung wakes up, and then the rest is a blur.
the next few minutes, or maybe hours—wooyoung doesn't know—feel like years. his head is pounding; it feels like he just got a 10 pound bag of flour chucked at his face.
with foggy vision, wooyoung squints and notices that an airbag is laying in a heap against the dashboard in front of him.
"fuck," he mumbles to nobody in particular, voice hoarse. he tries to move to undo his seatbelt, but a sharp pain pierces his side, and he cries out and clutches the spot as nauseating pulses of pain and discomfort scatter in shock waves throughout his body.
