Chapter Three
"Darren, I am so going to kill you!" I exclaimed.
The immature excuse of a 12 year old I called brother was standing on top of the stairway, holding my journal, waving it in front of him like it was some road sign.
"Give it!"
He only proceeded to flip through a couple of the pages before again looking at me un-satisfied.
"None of this even makes sense anyway!" He exclaimed.
Rolling my eyes I shot back. "No, you just don't have the sense to understand my dark poetry!" I unfolded my arms. "Give it here, Darren. I swear to God that if you make me walk up those stairs I'll-"
"Darren, stop harassing your sister." Mom appeared atop the stairs with tired eyes. No doubt, the date didn't go well last night.
"She has a diary mom," Darren informed, like that was supposed to make a difference.
Still, mom's eyes shot up! "What?" She grabbed the book from Darren to inspect it. "No way! You, Aisha Michelle Pierce, have a diary?!"
"It's a journal," I said, stressing on the latter as I took my book from her hands. "What's with the look?"
Mom's expression changed immediately, "Nothing. It's just, I'm glad to see you're doing something any normal girl would do. Keep writing in that diary."
"Jour-nal," I said slowly, annoyance evident in my voice.
"Right." Mom, brushed past me to grab her things. "Well come on kids, we're all going to be late."
The ride to school bore it's usual torture. It was impossible for Darren and I to remain together in any enclosed area. And when she and dad used to live together, she'd take me while dad drove Darren. But now, she was forced to endure us every morning.
For a while I felt sorry for her, then again, if she and dad had listened when I explained I wanted to be an only child, and had ditched the screaming wimp of a baby boy at the hospital, or, better yet shipped him to live 'the dream' with Nonie (fancy talk for grandma which she refused to be called), she didn't have to go to work every morning looking like she'd witnessed the hunger games live.
"Have a good day honey." She sighed loudly as I climbed out of the car. I leaned against the window.
"You know... it's not too late to send him packing," I said.
Her face cracked into a smile but for Darren's sake she tried not to laugh, "Aisha-"
"No, seriously, I hear China's paying. We can make him into a fancy rug. And just think, whenever he gets dirty, we get to take him out and beat him- old school. Save the money." I smirked at the now scowling Darren. "It's a win-win!"
Mom let out a weird cross between a cough and a snicker, no doubt trying to keep down the laughter.
"Aisha, I'll see you later. Four thirty, right?"
"After soccer," I added, and stepped back as she drived away with a honk of her horn. Swinging bag across my shoulder, I turned around and knocked into a human wall.
I staggered backwards into the firm chest of my clearly visually impaired attacker, allowing myself to fall hard onto his chest. If anything, I was taking this person down with me, but then hands wrapped firmly around my waist and the strong scent of manly cologne hit my nostrils. I gritted my teeth as Iooked up into the murky brown eyes of the biggest pain in the butt parading as god's greatest gift, also known as the school's badboy, Shane Mason.
"Finally falling for me, are we Aisha?" He wriggled his brows at me in a manner I'm sure in his head was seductive, but to me, it just looked plain stupid.
Scoffing, I jerked my elbow back into his ribs, nodding as I heard him yelp.
"Touch me like that again, and I'll be kicking things other than soccer balls,” I smiled sweetly as I threatened, before stomping past him, his approaching crony, Jordan, and some other girl.
"She wants me!" I'm sure I heard him remark to them. That got my eyes rolling heavenwards.
As I walked toward the school's main entrance, I pulled out my cell phone and logged into Wattpad. Yeah, I'd vowed I'd lay low for a while since the whole Shane thing, but I was obsessed! There was never going to be nothing of the sort.
Then something clicked. I'd been so annoyed that my usually sharp intellect had failed to notice it.
Shane the jerk on Wattpad. Shane the jerk at school.
What were the chances of them being the same person?
100%.
I frowned. Well, wasn't that just freaking peachy? Aisha tortured by Shane at school. Aisha tortured by Shane on Wattpad.
I checked my messages. To my relief the egoistical Jerkpid_for_you hadn’t answered to my last message.
Good, I thought. That did it.
Suddenly, I bumped into someone (again) and both of us plummeted downwards.
"F***!" I instinctively muttered. "What is this? Bump into Aisha day?"
The girl, a shy little thing with dark hair and amazingly contrasting blue eyes, scrambled up as I did. "Sorry!" she said. She bent down to pick up her phone, as did I.
I smiled at her timidness. I only acted that way around my dad. You know, to keep up with the whole daddy's little girl image. And technically, it was also my fault for not watching where I was going.
She glanced up at me, saw my twisted smile, and glanced back down. "I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention to-"
I glanced at her to see her staring at my phone screen.
Don't tell me it's damaged!
"Wattpad?" she asked.
I shrugged as I stood.
"I'm on Wattpad too!" she exclaimed, then seemed nervous. "I mean, it's just that, I think you're the only other person besides me and some of my friends that I know are wattpaders."
I smiled. "Yeah, I enjoy a few good reads from time to time." Yeah right, I was a Wattpad addict!
"Hey Jules!" called a masculine voice! I turned to see Shane winking at the girl. "Got my text, eh?"
"Jerkpid," I'm sure I heard her mutter as she walked towards him. "Oh, ah- bye! And I'm sorry," she apologized again as she walked over.
I turned around with a little smirk of content.
Jules- Jerkpid.
I think Wattpad has just become a heck of a lot more interesting.
A/N: Hey every-body! (Anyone just thought of the show 'Everybody Hates Chris'?) I'm psyched at all the reads this has so far! And thanks for the votes and comments! They were very encouraging. I hope this chapter was to you liking. Comment and tell me what you think!
Dediction is to @AoiSoraHime for the wonderful cover!
