Saige's point of view

At school, Myka pushed me around to get to my classes and I felt bad about it. When Myka couldn't push me around to my classes, Chancey pushed me. Come lunch time, I was trying to wheel myself to the lunchroom, but people would push me backwards to move me out of their way. After fifteen minutes of literally getting nowhere and people being rude to me, I started crying because I felt so powerless, so useless.

After sitting there for a couple minutes crying with my good hand covering my face, someone actually stopped to talk to me.

"Hey, are you okay?" I heard a girl ask. "Why are you crying?"

"Everyone is being so mean" I cried. "Usually it wouldn't bother me, but I'm stuck to this damn wheelchair because of my accident. I feel so damn pathetic."

"Aw I'm sorry" she said and I finally looked up at her. "I'm Charlotte, but you can call me Charlie. Where are you headed?"

"Lunch" I said weakly. "I'm Saige."

Charlie smiled at me, "it's nice to meet you Saige. Come on, let's get to lunch."

She began pushing me to the lunch room.

"Thank you Charlie" I said honestly. "You were the only person nice enough to help me."

"Aw no problem Saige" Charlie said. "Are you sitting with anyone? If not, you could sit with me and my friends."

"I promised my brother I would sit with him today" I said as we got in the lunch line.

"Who's your brother?" she asked curiously.

"You won't believe me" I said frowning. "No one ever believes me when I tell them. They always say that I'm too obsessed with him so I make up stories."

"Well I'm not everyone else" Charlie said and handed me a tray filled with food that I liked because the lunch ladies knew me too well. "So try me Saige."

"Alek, our schools QB is my brother" I said and a guy next to us gave me a dirty look. "We are identical twins. I just have tattoos and piercings and he plays football."

Suddenly I felt hands on my shoulders, so I looked back and saw Alek.

"Hey bro, I thought you weren't going to make it to lunch" Alek said then frowned. "Where's Chancey? He was supposed to bring you."

"He couldn't" I said. "The baseball team got a lunch meeting. I would've made it earlier, but it's so hard trying to use the wheels with one broken arm and one good arm. People were being so mean."

"You look like you have been crying" Alek frowned. "Have you been crying? How did you get here then?"

"He was crying because no one stopped to help him" Charlie said a little upset. "Until I showed up. He told me people were being mean and wouldn't help. He also said he felt pathetic because of the wheelchair."

"You helped him Charlie?" Alek asked.

"Of course I helped him" Charlie said sounding offended. "I wasn't going to let him sit there and cry like everyone else was."

"You two know each other?" I asked curiously.

"She's my ex" Alek said, "but we are still really good friends. Thank you Charlie for helping my mirror when nobody else would."

"So you really are twins?" Charlie asked amused.

Alek and I gave her the same annoyed look.

"Yep, I can so see it now" Charlie giggled.
