(Sorry about the super long hiatus! Now that I am back in school, I will be updating. Cheers!)

I woke up a couple hours later in a cold sweat, the extremely warm and comfortable bed alarming rather than comforting me as I realized I wasn't in my crappy apartment anymore. Instead, I was cuddled up to a currently sleeping Logan in his apartment, which was like really nice. No idea how he could've afforded it unless.....oh yeah. See, when I was half-asleep, my brain took that quite literally. Which meant half of my brain was basically dead to the world until I fully woke up.

I rubbed my eyes and slowly sat up-only to be stopped by a heavy, limp arm laying across my chest. I didn't know if Logan was a light sleeper or not, but I would be careful either way. Using a blanket to cover my ice-cold hands, I gently lifted his arm up and placed it besides him, his palm facing up. The obstacle now gone, I was able to get up off the bed and go into the living room. Morning light had flooded the apartment, giving everything a rosy yellowish glow. I slowly walked into the living room, hoping to grab myself some cereal or something.

I flinched in surprise when I saw a figure hunched over at the island, a steaming cup of coffee in their hand. I was about to shout for help when I realized it was probably Logan's dad having breakfast or whatever. "Uh....hey, how are you?" My voice cracked a couple times during that sentence, but I pressed on in my quest for talking about small talk or something.

Logan's dad sighed and turned around, revealing the scales on his face and the bags under his eyes. "Hey, Logan-" I could almost picture the gears screeching to a halt in his brain. "Wait a minute." He hissed, pupils contracting slightly and eyes narrowing. "You're not Logan. You're that little twerp who was 'studying' with him. I swear, if you two did anything while I was asleep-" The snake-like man reached into his shirt pocket and yanked out a wand made of light colored wood, with a green and yellow ombré scale pattern on one end. My eyes widened and I stepped back, my hands in the air in a gesture of surrender. "W-we didn't do anything, sir! I promise! Logan just cleaned his room and then he fell asleep, and then I fell asleep!" He fixed me with a scrutinizing glare and flicked his wand, before putting it away and nodding as he adopted a more relaxed pose.

"Alright, you aren't lying. Just saying though, I can tell when you are all the time now when I'm near you, because my wand noticed your DNA. It's a cool little cybernetic implant I innovated a couple years ago. It's the size of a sesame seed, yet it can do so much. I've also developed multiple explosives the sizes of your fingernail. One of them took out an entire city. People, buildings, every single life form there....all gone within an instant."

".......interesting." Yo, what the actual heck is wrong with this person? Like oh my goodness, he needs to just....not. I have no idea how he spawned such a kind and sweet child. "Soooo, I'm just gonna get some cereal and then I'll be out of your hair." I quickly went over to the kitchen and grabbed a bowl from the open cabinet, filling it with sugary wood chips or whatever the hell they put in cereal these days.

"The milk's in the fridge on the shelf-" Logan's dad said, but cut himself off when I made no move to get the cool liquid. See, he might assert his dominance through intimidating me by saying he makes explosives. I assert my dominance through a much more effective and easy way.

"Wait-what the hell are you doing!? O-oh my god, no. No. No! Why are you doing thisss!?" He put his hands over his eyes and cringed as I poured the hot coffee into my bowl of cereal.

"Cause it's delicious, and to let you know not to mess with me. Did it work?" I asked, smirking as I spooned a bite of coffee cereal into my mouth. The man sitting before me nodded furiously. "Good. Now that we're on the same page, I need your help with something."

"..You just psychologically tortured me. Why in the world would I agree to help you with something?"

"It's about Logan." At that he sat up straighter and put his hand on his coat where his wand was. "He's in danger, and you're my best bet for helping me protect him."

"How is he in danger?" I didn't trust him enough to say what really happened with the spell book, so time to make up some bs excuse.

"Uh...all you need to know is that it's from a credible source. If you really wanted to help your son, you'd accept my request." He stiffened and I could tell I hit a nerve.

"Fine." The word hit me like a brick because of the amount of threatening force behind it. Logan's dad didn't even need to say that if I stepped out of line, I'd be dead in an instant.

"Well, now that we're at an agreement, what's your name? I can't call you Logan's dad forever, you know."

"..Call me Deceit."

"Deceit? That's your name? Damn, I feel sorry for you."

"That's not my actual name. God, my kid brought home a moron. I just don't want to tell you my actual name." I shrugged, we all had our secrets to keep.

"That's fair. Nice to know, I guess-" my awkwardness was a spectacle to behold "-I, not that I meant that sarcastically-oh dear God. I think I'm just going to go and check on Logan-"

"'M right 'ere." A sleepy voice came from the door. I whipped around, eyes blown wide with fear, but they softened when I saw my cru-friend leaning against the doorway, his glasses askew on his face and a soft, absolutely adorable smile on his face. And yes, he was still wearing that onesie. It absolutely obliterated the emotions part of my brain.

"Oh, hey Logan! When did you get here?" I asked, trying to hide my shock and fear that he heard our conversation.

"Just now. Thanks for not disturbing me, Virge. And is that-oh, yes! Fresh coffee!" Logan seemed to perk up when he registered the smell of the coffee, quickly going over and pouring himself a cup. He woke up after that and looked down, just then noticing his change of clothes.

"Why am I in my onesie?"

"W-well, after you passed out, I had to get you into some pajamas and those were the only ones I found..." He flushed red and buried his face in his hands, making a sound between a groan and a squeak. "dad omg why did you buy me this onesie this is so embarassing..."
