"I wanna start this out and say
I gotta get it off my chest
Got no anger, got no malice
Just a little bit of regret""You should be sad" - Halsey
I walk into school, still unsure about what exactly I'm going to say to Hope. I have no idea where she'll be, but I want to tell her before I chicken out. I'll be changing her entire life; I don't want to responsible for damaging her relationship with her parents, but Hope will never forgive me if she finds out I kept this from her.
I head into the gym. I want to get Hunter's advice, Hunter is kind and sensible, and I know she'd say the right thing, she always does. Hunter is at cheerleading practice; I hope Courtney lets me talk to Hunter and isn't a bitch.
I walk into the gym and I see Hunter on top of the pyramid. Hunter always looks so happy when she's cheering, I wish I had something I loved that much.
Hunter jumps off and is caught by two girls. That always freaks me out whenever I see it. I know it's planned and there are girls whose job is to catch them, but I could not be a flyer. I'd be way too scared and flyers need to be confident.
"This is a closed practice" Courtney informs me, rolling her eyes. "Unless you're auditioning for Eleanor's position, get out." I am not here to join the cheerleading squad; I would rather do any other sport.
"I need to borrow Hunter it's important" I inform Courtney. Hunter glances over, looking curious. She's talking to two girls who I used to see with Eleanor a lot, I'm not sure what their names are. I think one is a senior called Cecilia.
"Hunter, your bestie needs you" Courtney calls out. That was easy, maybe Courtney can't be bothered being bitchy so early in the morning. "Don't interrupt practice again, Juliet." Courtney glares at me and I resist the urge to roll my eyes at her.
Hunter walks over to me, her red high ponytail swishing as she walks. I look in envy at her toned abs, I wish I had abs. Hunter works hard for them though. She goes running and does weightlifting as well as cheerleading, and she eats very healthily. I hardly ever see her eating anything that isn't a salad.
"Jealous of my abs?" Hunter asks me, laughing slightly. "What's wrong? You never interrupt practice" Hunter's tone turns serious.
"I need advice on how to tell someone something that will change their whole life." I am tempted to get Ashton to tell Hope, but I know deep down that it needs to come from me, I wouldn't even be telling Hunter before I told Hope if I didn't trust Hunter with everything I have.
"Let's go somewhere more private" Hunter decides, after glancing at the cheerleaders. "The principal will probably talk to you today about the note." I assumed he would, not that I'll be much help. I wouldn't have known what the message meant if Ashton hadn't told me.
I really hope Hunter can think of the best way to break the news to Hope, I really don't want to responsible for Hope flying off the edge, especially with the new knowledge she could end up hurting herself.
Hunter walks into an empty science lab. No one is ever in the science labs before school starts, not even the teachers. "Make it quick, I need to shower before school starts."
I tell Hunter everything I learnt last yesterday. She doesn't say anything while she's listening, her body language and expression doesn't give away how she's feeling about this. When I get to Hope's anger issues, she looks interested. I don't think anyone at school realized she had this issue, not even Ashton. I wonder if Eleanor used it against Hope, to ensure that Hope never became more popular than her, it seems too harsh, even for Eleanor, but maybe that's why Susan believed Hope may have had an episode and killed Eleanor in a fit of anger.
