Silence. The most fragile word. Even just saying the word itself, would be breaking it. Silence is usually observed in places where you can relax and feel at peace. But today, silence took a different turn, when everything went silent.

Hearing the last voice mail, Eve cried a river. Her heart aches for longing, she just wants her mother back. Eve feels like giving up. In anger, she threw her phone onto the windshield. She clutched onto the photo of her and her mother. That's all she has of her now. She couldn't stop crying. But then something clicked.

'Wait...' she thought trying to remember 'Wasn't there sirens and loud warnings in dad's call?'

Her eyes widened. She quickly grabbed her phone which fell under the car seat. She bent down and reached out for her phone. It was quite the struggle but she got it. As soon as she got up, she was startled.

"Gahhh!!" She screamed.

"Hey!", outside her car stood another woman "I'm glad someone's here." She knocked on Eve's door. "Please I don't know what to do there's no one here."

Eve still doesn't know what to do. She wiped her cheeks and rubbed her eyes. The woman looks confused as well. She has pink hair with lines of light blue running down the bottom. Eve lowered down her window slightly.

"Thank God! I tried calling for help but no one answered" the woman exclaimed. "Did you know what happened here?" Eve asked.

"No" the woman answered, "Not even a clue. I was at the port and when I came back, no one was here." She added.

Eve don't know what to make of the other woman's excuse. But she's slightly less scared now that she's not alone anymore.

"Come on in" Eve opened the car door, inviting the woman to go inside her car. The woman sat on the chair and lifted her two legs up in the car.

"I thought I'd never find anyone" the woman joked as she closed the door. Eve wasn't really a socially active person so she doesn't know what to do or say for that matter.

"Ahehehe..." Eve giggled awkwardly. The woman stared at her, trying to hold out her laughter. "Jessy" the woman said as she let out her arm with the intention of shaking Eve's hand. "Eve..." Eve being the awkward diva that she is, gave Jessy a high five.

Jessy bursts out in laughter "You're funny you know that?" She said. Eve continues giggling awkwardly "Ahehehe..."

"Not to give you an impression of being a stalker but uh... I saw you earlier crying." Jessy said, her smile turned into worry. "It's okay, I lost my family too," she added.

"Yo-you did?" Eve asked, still wiping her tears.

"Yeah" Jessy answered "But not due to whatever happened today no. They died in a fire over a year ago" she clarifies.

"Oh... no.." Eve didn't know what to do "There... there..." she said awkwardly. She didn't know how to comfort anyone. Growing up, Eve didn't have that much friends. She was always the outcast.

Jessy burst out in laughter, again. "I know it's a serious subject but I just can't with your there, there" she mocked Eve and continued laughing.

After what seems like a million years, Jessy stopped laughing, sighing as she tries breathing in and out.

"I'm sorry I don't know how to comfort anyone" Eve apologized. "I don't have that much friends..." she added.

Jessy looked at her, confused. "Really?" she asked in disbelief. "But you're pretty! Especially those eyes of yours" she added in an excited tone.

Eve was born with complete heterochromia, which means her iris are of different colors. The right one being darkish brown while the other being a blue with hints of jade. "It's strange..." Eve disagreed.

"It's beautiful!" Jessy exclaimed. "It's unique," she added, smiling at Eve. Eve had never heard someone said that before apart from her parents. People would always stare at her like she's some kind of a freak wherever she went.

"Thanks" Eve smiles at Jessy. Eve never felt anything like this before. Now, she finally has someone to call 'friend'. She felt excitement but scared as well. Now that's someone new entered her life, she's afraid of being left alone, again. She just stares at Jessy. Not knowing what to say.

"Umm... Eve?" Jessy asked. Eve spaced out. All she could ever think about was the pain of someone leaving. 'I can't get too close to her' she thought to herself. She knows that if someone left her again, she couldn't handle it anymore, especially now that her mother's gone.

Eve snapped out of it, Jessy waving her arms in front of her. "I'm sorry I just-" Eve stutters, she felt stupid for spacing out on Jessy. "It's okay, I can't process everything that's happening right now too." Jessy answered. Eve smiled at her.

"Should we look if anyone's still out here?" optimistic, Jessy suggested. "Of course, you're right we should look..." Eve agreed with an awkward tone. "I'm sorry this is still all new to me." She added as she started starting the car. "Don't worry I'll be gentle" Jessy smirked. Eve stopped and slowly turned her head towards Jessy. "Oh my God Eve! I was just kidding." Jessy burst into laughter. Eve started letting out the awkward giggle, "Ahehehe...," as they drove away.

The city even looked creepier than before. And the silence... the silence was still there. That eerie sound of nothingness. The two felt scared roaming about the empty city.

"Hello! Is someone out there?" Jessy yelled from behind the lowered window as they drove slowly across an apartment complex. No one answered. "God this is useless..." she added grunting as she placed her fist under her chin "Hmpph!"

"Don't give up now Jessy there mi-"

"Hello!" Eve was cut off by a voice yelling from behind the car. The two gasped and stared at each other in disbelief. Eve stopped the car. They turned their heads back in excitement. Two hands waved. "We're here! Hey!" Jessy yelled with hope in her voice, waving at what seems to be a man. They couldn't be any happier. 'I guess not everyone disappeared' Eve thought. But the excitement turned into worry. What really happened in the city? Why did it happen and how? Questions came running into Eve's mind. Eve's eyes widened as the person got closer. She gasped.

'Dad?'
