Violet's POV

Ace opened my bedroom window, causing the muscles in his arms to bulge slightly. I looked back down at the crumpled up note laying in my hand.

Violet,

Be back on Wednesday. Business trip.

Mom

How nice. Another business trip which just leaves me and Richard at the house alone. This isn't going to be good.

"Vi? You coming?" Ace asked from the other side of my window. I looked up seeing that he held a tattooed hand out for me to grab. I smiled slightly, grabbing a hoodie before taking his hand.

"You know, we could have just taken the front door," I said, once I closed the window back behind us.

He shrugged, smiling down at me. "Where's your sense of adventure, Ultraviolet?"

I shook my head, laughing lightly. Out of all the guys, Ace resembles my personality the most. I just can't help but smile every time I'm around him.

"Holy shit," I said, stopping in front of Ace's motorcycle. Saying that it was a nice bike was a huge understatement. This thing is probably worth more than my house, although that's not saying much.

"Not afraid are you?" He asked in a cocky voice, wiggling his eyebrows. I watched as the sun caught on the metal of the piercing sticking out of his eyebrow.

I gave him a smirk before throwing my leg over. "Not a chance"

"Atta girl," He said, smiling so bright, his teeth were practically sparkling. "Oh, wait. I almost forgot," He said before taking out a helmet and putting it on me.

It was such a small gesture, but one that made my insides go mushy. Which is just gross...but felt kinda good.

"Hold on," He said, flipping down his visor before driving off. I wrapped my arms around his waist, holding on tight. I could feel his abs flex underneath my fingertips, just asking for attention.

We weaved down the road and in between traffic as I let myself drift off into my thoughts. It wasn't long before Ace pulled over to the side of the road in the parking lot of a small diner on the outskirts of town.

"You ever been here?" I shook my head no which earned me a smile. "Well, Diana makes the best french toast," He said, holding the door open for me.

I was greeted with the sweet smell of syrup and bacon. There weren't too many people here, except for locals. Ace walked us towards a booth in the back, while I looked around the small diner that was laced with 70s and 80s rock posters, along with a retro vibe and a jukebox at the front.

"Hey, sweetpea," an older lady said, walking towards our table. I was about to say something until I realized that she was talking to Ace and not me.

"Hey, Diana. How're the kids?" Ace asked, smiling in a way that I haven't seen from him. He looked unguarded and at ease. I could tell they knew each other well.

"Adam just turned thirteen and Eden will be seven next fall," The older lady said, smiling fondly. She glanced over at me before her smile doubled its size. "Now who is this young lady? Finally got a girlfriend I see?"

Ace looked over at me slightly sheepish. "This is Violet. She's my-"

"Friend," I finished for him, putting my hand out for her to shake. She glanced between the two of us humming as if she didn't believe that one bit.
