Girl meets Money Part 2

Lucas POV:
We get to Maya's apartment and all relax enjoying our friends company. I know I'm still mad but I don't want to act out, unless they do something else to hurt her then well I might not be able to control it. Maya is currently drawing. Farkle is looking out the window. Riley is playing with the guitar. Ari and i well we are playing with Maya's ferret.
"What do you think?" Maya asks.
"I think you're the best there is. Look at us. We're having a really good time." Riley says happily.
"I like this little ferret." I say holding him up.
"He's so cute" Ari says and pets him.
"Hi." Farkle says as Maya sticks her head out the window to join him.
"Hey, what are you doin'?" Maya asks.
"There's people right out your window. I wish I had that. Where are they all going?"
"Right now? They're going home, Farkle."
"Do you know them? What about her? Do you know her?"
"Yeah, that's Mrs. Abruzzo." Maya responds.
"Why is she wearing two jackets?" Farkle asks as Ari and I continue to let Ginger.
"I always ask her that. She said she just doesn't have time to get a warmer coat, but she says she's fine."
"I don't think she's fine."
"Yeah." Maya sighs.
"Hi, Mrs. Abruzzo. You have a great room, Maya, with a much better view than mine." Farkle says.
"I'm glad you appreciate it, Farkle."
"Hi, guys." Riley says sticking her head out to and they giggle.
"My room is an idiot. It has everything in it except for the most important thing." Farkle says.
"Us?" Ari and I ask together walking up before smiling.
"How can you put a price on that?" Farkle asks.
"You don't. You can't put a price on what's truly valuable." Ari responds.
"Who needs money at all? Lesson Five, right?" Farkle ask.
"Wrong. When you don't have it, you learn when it comes in handy. I mean, I'd fix the leak in my roof, do something about the cracks in the plaster, definitely patch up the hole that Ginger came in through a year ago." Maya says and we all pause.
"Wait a minute." I say.
"What?" Ari asks.
"Your cat that's a ferret is a rat?" Riley asks.
"Oh... there you go." I say and out Ginger down before wiping my hands on my jeans.
"Where's the bathroom? I need to wash my hands" Ari says and I nod in agreement.

———History the next day———
"This is the world." Mr.Matthews says pointing to a pie chart on the board as I bounce my leg under the table.
"You see this piece of pie? These are the people in the world who have pie, and this is everyone else in the world who lives On less than $2 a day." He continues the lesson.
"Oh, my gosh." Riley says and I turn to look at Ari and see a tear run down her cheek.
"These are the people in the world who have access to immediate medical care and do not live in abject poverty." Mr.Matthews says before he colors a little section, "This is us. These are the people who get to wake up in their warm beds and they get to eat waffles in the morning. This is us. This is them. Look at me. Pay attention to this. Now, I've tried to teach you guys that the secret of life is people change people. Well, today, we're gonna get more specific. This is us. This is them. What's the secret of life? Anybody?" Mr.Matthews asks.
"What us does for them." Maya says.
"Kindness. Charity." Ari says.
"That's what changes people. That's the secret of life. And thank you." Mr.Matthews says to the class and then to Maya.
"I'm an "us"?" She asks.
"You're an "us." You're blessed. We're all blessed." He responds.
"I'm sorry I've ever complained. I'll never complain about my leaky roof again." She says.
"Riley?"
"What us does for them." Riley says.
"The secret of life. Your assignment today is to think about what good you guys would do if you had money. Who would you help?" Mr.Matthews asks.
"I am... humiliated." Farkle says before he stands and walks out of class. People start to think and before we know it the well rings.

Ari POV:
"Bubs can we go to the shelter today?" I asks Lucas after school.
"Yeah come on" He says and we walk over to the homeless shelter we volunteer at sometimes. We spend a little while there before we get a call from Farkle and leave to meet him at Topanga's before we go to Riley's house.
"Mr. Matthews, I had a talk with my father today because of what you taught us." Farkle says as we walk in.
"Yeah, we didn't know how lucky we are." Lucas says as we sit down, him pulling me into his lap.
"We've been talking about it all day." Riley says.
"Thanks for my dollar, but... It's yours and I'm giving it back." Maya says. "Thanks. Aug... here's the rest of your allowance. What are you gonna do with it?" Mr.Matthews asks Auggie. He sits there thinking before we all get up and start to leave. That's when he see's me.
"Ari! I didn't see you!" He yells excited and runs over to me.
"Hey Auggie" I say hugging him.
"Wait Auggie, How do you Ari?" Riley asks.
"She's Ava's babysitter. She sometimes watches me too" he explains. "When are you watching Ava next. Can we make cupcakes?" He asks excited.
"I don't know but we sure will" I say happily. Him and Ava were my favorite kids to babysit. "I gotta go bud. I'll see you next time." I say before Lucas and I leave.
