Virgil was unsurprisingly worried when Roman didn't come down for breakfast. Roman never misses Patton's Pancake Saturdays. The only time he'd ever missed a pancake Saturday was...when Roman had his first panic attack. Virgil can remember the day clearly, the memories coming back as he thinks about it. Patton sent him up to get Roman for breakfast, but instead of a prince fussing over his hair, Virgil found Roman so broken and curled up on his floor. Virgil shook the memory from his head.

"I'm going to go get Roman." He says, pushing his chair back and standing up.

"Um kiddo...Roman might not want to see me right now..." Patton says quietly.

"What? Why not?" Roman loves Patton. They're best friends. Virgil can't think of any reason Roman wouldn't want to see Patton...unless... "What happened in the video yesterday?" He asks suddenly. "You never said anything bad happened so I figured it went fine. But something happened, didn't it?" He grows more worried with each word.

Patton bites his lip, looking down. "Deceit showed up...and...Roman..." He takes a deep breath. "We sided with Janus over Roman." Virgil's mouth fell open.

"You what?!"

"Kiddo-"

"No! Don't 'kiddo' me! Do you understand how much that probably hurt him?! When he sided with Deceit everyone, even me, yelled at him! Everyone was against him! So this time he goes against Janus and suddenly you're all with Deceit! It sounds like you just want to go against Roman, not do what's best for Thomas!" Virgil yells. He didn't mean to snap at Patton, but the memory of how Virgil had upset the princely side hurt. Virgil's rant gained Logan's attention and he quickly came to the fatherly figure's defense.

"Virgil I can assure you we want what's best for Thomas." Virgil glares at him, harshly shoving the chair under the table.

"So does Roman." Is all he offers them before stomping upstairs. He tries to calm down before he gets Roman. He makes it to Roman's room.

Virgil stands in front of the large door. He smiles slightly as he knocks on the painted wood in their special way. Roman and Virgil had painted the door's scenery together. A lush forest with trees painted by Roman while Virgil focused on the starry background.

"Go away Virgil." Can be heard very faintly from inside. Roman's quiet voice sounds so hurt, so broken and Virgil isn't sure what to do. He understands wanting to be left alone, but how can he leave Roman when he's like this?

"Ro please." There's no answer and Virgil sighs, sliding down to the floor. "I'll be here for whenever you want to talk." Roman's crying can be heard clearly now. Small sniffles followed by the beginnings of choked sobs. The sounds break Virgil's heart. The crying picks up as the time passes and Virgil knocks softly on the door from where he's sitting before opening his mouth.

"You don't have to be a hero to save the world." He begins to sing softly. Roman's breath hitches.

"It doesn't make you a narcissist to love yourself." He continues. Shuffling can be heard from inside and Virgil hears Roman slide down to the floor, sitting on the other side of the door.

"It feels like nothing is easy, it'll never be. That's alright, let it out, talk to me." A sob can be heard from Roman's room and Virgil's heart breaks a little more.

"You don't have to be a prodigy to be unique. You don't have to know what to say or what to think. You don't have to be anybody, you can never be." Virgil continues to sing softly.

"That's alright, let it out, talk to me. Anxiety tossing turning in your sleep. Even if you run away you still see them in your dreams." Virgil hears more sobbing.

"It's so dark tonight, but you'll survive certainly. It's alright, come inside, and talk to me." Virgil hears shuffling as Roman stands up.

"We can talk here on the floor. On the phone, if you prefer. I'll be here until you're okay." He says that line strongly. He isn't leaving until Roman is okay.

"Let your words release your pain. You and I will share the weight. Growing stronger day by day." More shuffling can be heard.

"It's so dark outside tonight, build a fire warm and bright. And the wind it howls and bites, bite it back with all your might." The door opens and Virgil looks up to Roman. His hair is a mess, his silk pajamas wrinkled, his eyes are red and puffy, and his cheeks are stained with tears.

"Anxiety tossing turning in your sleep." Roman sings quietly, voice scratchy from the sobbing.

"Even if you run away you still see them in your dreams." Virgil continues, standing up.

"It's so dark tonight." Roman sings, voice still quiet as he looks up at Virgil.

"It looks nice, fall asleep." Virgil sings, smiling softly.

"It's alright, come inside and talk to me." They sing together. Roman offers his hand and Virgil takes it, allowing Roman to lead him into his room.
